Robinul/Advert Review

I recently wrote a review in my blog about my experience with Robinul.
Help With Hyperhidrosis: Robinul/Avert (glycopyrrolate) Review

For me, it really helped the sweating on my back, groin, and back of my legs. However, I had really uncommon side effects. I became very anxious from taking the medication and could not sleep more than a few hours without waking up with a pounding chest. I also experienced heart palpitations and abdominal bloating. All of my side effects stopped when I stopped taking the medication.

Yes, Robinul takes a long time to take effect, and therefore should be taken at least 1 hour before eating. For me, it takes at least 1.5 hours.

Your symptoms are very unusual: have you tried a lower dose?

AVERT/ROBINUL work great for me.
I have Hyperhidrosis on my face/neck and on my back when it's very hot.

I take 2x1mg (2mg) on time a day, and sometimes, 2x1mg (2mg) twice a day

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. Every person has different reactions to all sorts of medications.

I've been taking Avert for many years. I sometimes have dry mouth, but never the anxiety you suffered. Obviously it isn't the one for you, but I am grateful for it. Like HHelper, I take 2x1mg about an hour before breakfast, and a bit more on really hot humid days.

I hope you find something that works for you.

I'm calling my doctor Monday to see if I can get a script. My cs is on my back, groin and legs to do this gives me some hope. Hopefully I don't get any side effects

Thank you

You feel the effect on the first day.
Must be taken in a completely empty stomach, and you eat 1:30/2:00 hours after, not before...

The pharmacist advised me to take it when it was really necessary, but it can be used every day without risk.

2mg(2 x 1mg) work great for me, some day i take 2 x 2mg (morning and afternoon) when it's very hot outside.

I have hyperhidrosis on my face and back.
When i take AVERT/ROBINUL, i don't sweat AT ALL.

Side effects in my case: Very light dry mouth, Very dry lips, and very dry hands.

Very tolerable.

pharmacy.ca doesn't seem very legit to me? I have to wait a month to see my doctor so thought about ordering the trial size but it looks like a good way of getting ripped off

Pharmacy.ca are very legit and have been around for awhile. You can even talk with them via the phone. Many of us including myself have ordered from them over the years. That being said, it's probably cheaper to get a prescription from your doctor.

Are you trying to get a prescription to get it covered by insurance? I asked my doctor once but she said it's not needed for glyco. Pharmacy.ca is very legit - I've ordered and re-ordered at least 5 times - very fast shipping and professional service.

I plan on just getting a script from the doc but can't get into see him for another 3 weeks and I can't wait that long so was just going to order a trial size. I made an order last night, just waiting for them to contact me back with regards to the questionnaire they give you. Hope it gets here fast, work is a nightmare right now

I'm surprised you are suspicious of pharmacy.ca They are a registered pharmacy here in Toronto. I live close to the store, so go there directly. They are very helpful and make sure you know possible effects.

I've gone there for many years. They compound the Avert themselves, and are the only place that does, at least in Ontario.

You'll do as you wish, but I'd like to know why you mistrust them.

Charles N. Your doctor is correct that you can get glycco without a prescription. But I get one from my doctor and therefore can claim it through my auxiliary health plan. It didn't occur to me at first that that was possible, but someone mentioned it on this forum.

Just find it strange that you can order meds online lol. I placed an order yesterday and had to fill out a questionnaire. I hope they reply to me soon so I can get it quick. I'm worried about my next 2 days at work... I can't deal with this lower body sweat...

Do you guys that use it for CS take it every day or just during warmer months?

Hi.

I plan to take AVERT for the rest of my life, but just during warmer months...

I take it for around one month (almost every day) and I will take until the end of the summer. I am fortunate to live in Québec, we have long winter.

This winter, i will use Topical glycopyrrolate SECURE WIPES 2.5/3%.
If this is not effective enough, I will continue to use avert but only when it's really necessary (meeting, party, etc)

I have Facial Hyperhidrosis

EDIT: I just noticed that CS meant "compensatory sweating".

To SweatyCanuck

"It sounds simple: take drugs and sweating stops. This treatment, however, is a bit more complex than that. To begin with, the oral medications of hyperhidrosis are not for all types of excessive sweating. Rather, they are suitable for people suffering from generalized hyperhidrosis of craniofacial hyperhidrosis and those who have not had good results using other therapies used as first-line anti-perspirants, the iontophoresis, the botulinum toxin or a combination thereof. People with compensatory hyperhidrosis after thoracic sympathectomy may also be used."

It's work really great for my facial hyperhidrosis and my back (5 stars)
This will probably work great for you too.

Good luck!

Got mine yesterday, 2mg tabs. Tried one midday after not eating for 3 hrs and then waited another 2 hours. I didn't have any relief. This morning I took one when I woke up and didn't eat for 3 hours after and stayed dry for half of my shift (6 hours) which was awesome. It was hot and I have a physical job so I was impressed. The last 6 hours of my shift I started sweating again, not quite as heavy as normal but my back still soaked through my shirt. Maybe I need 2 doses?

On the "leaflet" that comes with AVERT, it says:

How to use:
......
......
Typically, glycopyrrolate may be taken two to three times per day based on need.

So yes 2 x 2mg, (morning and afternoon) in a empty stomach.
With 2 doses, you will be dry 2 times longer ;)

8mg maximum per day, separated into several doses
