Sorry a bit of a weird post!

I have been reading a lot about asperger`s syndrome and Autism (my son seems to be heading down that track :( )

Anyway the point is social phobia is a symptom of both of these along with anxiety and obsessions especially with routine .
The thing is i can relate to some of it :?

I think what im trying to say is , what if social phobia was actuallya really high functioning autism/ asperger`s .....it just seems weird to me that so many people develop social anxiety without percific reason.......just a thought maybe the med bods overlooked it...................maybe we arnt all freaks afterall ...............would it be more socially acceptable if it was?

Sorry for the rant hope some one can get what im meaning or is it one of those posts everyone ignores because its too wierd

yeh i know what you mean, i have had social phobia as long as i can remember, and when i first heard this term and started looking into it, i thought maybe i'm just autistic. Because i see all these people around me making decent conversation effortlessly and i try but don't get anywhere...it's like i don't know how to make conversation.

But i don't think it is. Sociophobics just feel like they can't communicate because of the fear and the low self-esteem. It's a phobia, just like spiders or heights. It's not autism.
