Sometimes i think being a black male is worst for social anxiety

I'm 6'3 black (african) male. I think social anxiety is worst if you're black because when i walk behind people or near their car it always makes my SA worst. Like i think they are thinking i'm about to rob them or something lol, and most people do stare at me fearfully. Also, my SA is bad in store because i feel like undercover security gaurds are watching every move i make to see if i will steal lol...but i'm starting not care about this.
I'm just wondering which race is worst to have SA for you guys?

I here what you're saying mate, sounds like you're used to and have accepted living with that sort of discrimination, can see how it would make your SA worse, not only that but it's likely that some people, in the event that they noticed your anxiety, would misinterpret it and think you were hiding something/about to commit a crime etc

Yah I hear ya. I'm black too & I have SA. Whenever I'm in a shop/store the security guards & people in general can sense that I'm nervous so they think I'm gonna commit a crime or steal something too cause most criminals are nervous/on edge when they about to commit a crime but these people dont understand what its like to have SA. Only us people with SA can understand eachother

I have talked to many other black people online with SA both men and women. And I never heard this as a reason. They always cited black culture as being more open and extroverted and them just not fitting in. But having also talked to white people there is definitely subconscious racism white people have (mostly women) about black men. It sucks and its definitely not fair. And if you talk to them personally they will get over it very quickly and see you as a good person.

I've seen a number of white folks here post about security guards watching their every move and looking at them like they're going to steal something. I don't recall if anyone said anything about actually being stopped or questioned by a guard. I do believe there's something to this. Anxious body language and all that. I also believe that effect is probably worse for a black guy in America. Humans are primarily visual creatures after all, and love to stereotype and categorize based on superficial traits.

Your height may count a bit against you in such situations, since those fools who fear someone because they're black are even more likely to fear a tall black guy. On the whole, though, your height is more in your favor than not. Study after study shows that taller men have many significant advantages where it counts--attracting women and dating, getting hired, getting promoted, getting respect from peers and so on. I'm not saying you have it easy being tall. Having social anxiety means you don't have it easy period.

So on the whole you have a positive in the height category and a negative in the race category. As far as who has it the very worst, it's hard to say. Severity of one's social anxiety counts for more than racial, gender, or ancestral factors.

In any event, these things are not things you can change. Productive thinking is about what you can change.

Sorry to bring this is old post up, I'm also black and have had SA for a number of years now... It can feel like a burden for me especially when meeting strangers (of any colour), but how much is that my own BS and assumption I'm not sure. Black people are supposed to be loud and rowdy according to media and Hollywood, so I sometimes feel self conscious that I'm not the typical stereotype of a black person. I'm always tempted to compensate when I meet strangers and act confident and noisy but usually end up with horrible results.

I've had this happen to me. Not fun. I'm a short, middle-aged white guy, so not much like the OP, but my appearance and mannerisms are apparently far enough outside the acceptable norms to warrant occasional harassment. In little piggy minds, anyone who stands out must be guilty of something.

I am a tall, weird, white guy. I think I am being followed in supermarkets. It's the way I look apparently, it makes people uncomfortable, and creates and absolute nightmare for me. I don't know what to do, close my eyes, not look at anyone, not say anything. Hide in a corner somewhere with my hands over my head.

Having said that, there is a lot of racism in my country directed at muslims and aboriginal people. My country is a racist country. It is harder for aboriginal people in this country, they die younger, more of them are in goal, there is a higher prevalence of mental illness and other diseases.

So yeah, it is harder for aboriginals, the statisitics back that up.

It might be worse for you specifically depending on where you live. Some places I'd be afraid to walk around alone because I know I would stand out too much. I stayed in Pierre South Dakota once and in the grocery story this little kid asked her mom why I was so dirty. The mother looked mortified. It was then I knew I was in for a special vacation experience lol.

I think that in each country, there is at least one race/ethnicity/religion that is frowned upon, either because of stereotypes or repeated offenses committed by a person pertaining to that (race/ethnicity)...etc.

My country's airline company almost exclusively employs "European-looking guys" as stewards and pilots, even though there are many Arabs and Blacks in my country...
There is also a region (where these "European-looking guys" originate from) 3 hours from the capital, where people only speak Tamazigh or French, if you'd talk to them in Arabic, they'd most likely reply in French...which is disrespectful from my point of view. (Maybe because they don't like Arabs).

I can't stomach racist *******s,

This is revolting!
Aboriginals being discriminated against in their own land? What kind of messed up world do we live in?!

My advice about the Arabic. Stop feeding the Tamazigh and French people your money.

My advice about being Barack. Stop thinking bs and carry on with you life. Look seriously people are going to be alienated forever. The only way to stop that is by not feeding them money. You need get off that high-horse and realize that people eat money and by not giving them money you will prevent bs from occurring any further.

Cut off all ties to your enemies. Including your financial burden. Otherwise save your money for a special moment. I know it is a hard thing to do but the only thing valuable is your family members and the people who cares about you. It is like the saying. The son is held above the fathers head. Not because he is greater but because when the father is gone all that will be left is the son.

So cut out this rubbish about alienation bs. Yes people who are robots at work who complain when your name does not appear in the machine itself. They are just doing a job and they do not love you. People will be like that forever.

Next time you spend money just look at where you money is going and do some research on the people you are giving your money to.
