Start a meeting group!

Hello I would really like to find some people who would be interested in starting some kind of "group" A meeting group would be the goal, but also an online group to start with.

The goal is to be more like a little online community of friends all with social anxiety, to narrow down the number of people that are on here. I want to find friends who,, like me has Social Anxiety, from whereever in the world to share thoughts and feelings and have some great experiences together.

We could start with making either a facebook group or a different online meeting place.

We could talk more, and get to know eachother, then hopefully meet somewhere in the world.

I really have not thought out the details, but if you are reading this and finds it interesting, then we can join ideas and work it out.

Im thinking we must have these things in commen- (the easier it will be and the more we have to talk about)

So to join THIS group you must (everyone else is welcome to steal the idea and start a similar group)-
-Have Social Anxiety/Phobia
-Be between 28-48 in age (why always tens or fives)
-want a tighter bond/community then what you find in here
-want to eventually meet in real life

And it is a plus if you want to find friends and want to travel to see other parts of the world.

cant wait to hear from you

By the way
I am a woman, 33 years old, Lives in Denmark, Have Social Phobia. Loves new experiences. Loves to travel. Loves experiencing stuff with other people, but have a hard time with my social anxiety.

Most of us don't have the money to travel. Have you tried starting an SA group in your area on meetup.com, or a local equivalent website? I've been running an SA meetup in my nearest big city for a few years.

Sound like a good idea but a meeting face to face would be an even better idea, but it would be kind of very hard to do as all of us live in different places.

Hey nice to see some replies. Yes I also think it will be hard since people on here come from all over the world but Im just trying to see if it is possible.

I sometimes find these online forums are too "shalow" but maybe its just me. Im not really good at making good connections to people online (as well as in real life)

I love travelling all over the world, so if this was ever possible I wouldnt mind, if I was taking a trip anyway, that it would be to meet with online friends. But I realise some might find it hard because of the costs. Thats why I think starting with just a tighter/smaller online meeting group is the way to go and then maybe later its possible in real life. who knows!

Hello, Ronja, yes I would definitely fulfill the criteria you put there. Alas, I do live in the United States.

Anyone, who is interested, have any good ideas to how to go about this?

A Facebook group could work. Shall I open one?
If so, I'll need the Facebook username of anyone who wants to join (via a private message or maybe directly in this thread?).

So what the heck is a online meetup group. I heard about this before and wanted to try this out . Is this like being on a chatroom where every one has to be online at the same time.

I think this is a great idea, would be awesome travelling to another country knowing you have friends there :) That's why i chose this forum over the spanish one, to know ppl from all over the world!

I don't meet the requirements (cannot travel right now and i'm 25) but i hope this idea works and wish you good luck!

Yes I thought that maybe a facebook group is the way to go. If you are good at that stuff then I think it would be great if you opened one :applause: But can you maybe just post the name of it inhere and then we can find it and join? Or doesnt it work that way? Im not to familiar with it.

I really havent thought out the details of it. I guess we just make it what we need and want it to be.

I'm in that demographic but can't understand the age restriction.

You and one other person brought this up.
For me it is because I would like there to be people in this group that I have some things incommen with and I think age plays a big part in where you are in life, what you think and dream about for the future.
I read comments on the forum from a lot of young people (16-20 year olds) and im in my mid 30's so I dont feel I neccesarily have a lot in commen with them.

But Im open to discuss it and perhaps we can broaden the age limits if thats what people would like.

I'm 34 but have the maturity level of someone a lot younger much to my dismay. Often age =/ maturity . I think it would be nicer if age wasn't an issue but it's not my decision. Maybe once the group is formed, people in the same age group or with other things in common would naturally message each other more and maybe eventually want to meet in real life.
