I started Cognitive-behavioral therapy yesterday. The SA has been more or less diagnosed (Or however you spell it. lol Bear with me. Can't spell for beans) so my councillour and I have set small targets and tasks for me to be getting on with. At the moment I have to try and controll my body language to stop me comming across as shy (Which I think I'm doing okay with at the mo) and I have to look in the mirror when I wake up and say to myself 'I'm strong, conffident People like me, I matter' three times and whenever the negative thoughts come along I have to say 'I can do this, if its wrong, I did it, I tried!'
We've put me on a scale of 0 to 10 and at my lowest I'm at 1 and a half and at my highest I'm at 2 and a half. She wants to try and bump me up half a level over time and eventually get to number 7 (confident, happy etc)

I'm praying this works. Mum caught me doing the mirror thing earlier and that was well embarassing.

I was just wondering how long you get this type of therapy for? The councelor I see at the moment is not keen on this type of therapy. This is because on the NHS you only get this sort of help for a short time something like 8 weeks. I have only just found out about social phobia and I am sure it has been a problem all my life. This being so I dont think8 weeeks of this type of therapy would be much help to me but I really hope it helps you.

It depends. I see two and originally I was uspposed to see them both for 6 sessions only but they streached it for me. Usually thats all the NHS give though. 6 to 8 weeks and you have to re-book for more time.
Not nearly enough time fot what they need to do in my opinion.
