Staying up late

For the past year or so I've been going to bed very very late. Sometimes I don't even get into my bed until 3 or 4am. Even if I have to get up early to go to school I still put off going to bed until about 2:30 or so. I watch tv or just sit at the computer, usually both. If I try going to bed early its impossible to sleep and I just go watch tv again.

When I don't have school i get up around noon. Every time I wake up I'd rather stay in bed and sleep but I get out of bed anyway because I feel like my day has been waisted if I sleep any longer (even though I don't do much it still feels waisted). When I finally get to sleep I usually wake up maybe 2 or 3 times a night but I fall back asleep none the less. Anyone else get what I'm saying? I don't think I have insomnia either... :? Maybe I just need one of them sleep number beds lol :)

man, this is how i live. the only difference here: i absolutely love it! i get up on time everyday for work/school (never late, perfect attendance), but if i don't have to do anything, i get in as much sleep as i can! (never later than 12 though)

you could just be a night owl like me. even if i'm tired by 12 or 1, i'm usually up past that point anyway. forcing myself to go to sleep before that usually gives me a headache. literally! i get all restless and shit... definitely not fun.

so yeah. i've attempted to change this lifestyle in the past, but realized that i fucking love it. i don't even care if it's insomnia anymore, i still get in a shit ton of sleep on the weekends... sometimes even catnaps after work. nothing wrong with that in my book!

Yea I wouldn't worry about it. I get 4-6 hrs of sleep on the weekdays and it doesn't bother me at all. If you can function well without that much sleep then take full advantage of it because a lot of people cant.

I do this too. For a while after I started working where I am I tried hard to get to bed before midnight in the week, but it's gradually drifted back to 1am, occasionally later. It doesn't leave me feeling tired through the day.

The oddest thing is that if I go to bed a little earlier, say 11:00 to 11:30pm - that is when I tend to get up 'late' the morning after!

Also, as an aside, coffee, sugar, Red Bull and anything else has no effect on me. At all.

I'm just the same- I usually don't get to bed till about 3am and going at 1am is an early night for me! It's probably because I like the quietness at night and the solitude. Also my mind seems clearer so I never actually seem to feel like going to sleep. I know this is a bit strange but I quite like sitting out in the garden at night when it's not too cold especially as I often get to see the local foxes and hedgehogs snuffling about. I wont be out tonight though as it's really freezing and windy.

Yeah, i'm pretty much the same. Wether I have school or not I got to bed at 3 or 4 and don't fall asleep for an hour on a normal night. I always wake up several times a night and normally fall right back to sleep. On the weekends when I can sleep in I usually can't and am up by 10, though it usually takes me an hour to convince myself to get out of bed b/c I'm not going to be able to fall back asleep even though I'm tired. I'm tired all day untill 11 or 12 at night hits then I'm wide awake. I also usually take naps during the day to get some more sleep. Sometimes I wonder if I have cyrcadian rhythem disorder.

im just like that too, half the time ill fall asleep at about 5 or 6 then usually wake up about 12, i hate it! But no matter what i do, i cant fall asleep before that, if i try to i just lay in there bed starin at the ceiling lol.

My sleep is seriously messed up, I went to sleep around 7 in the morning and woke up at 4 this afternoon.

I'm getting a script for Lunesta to knock me out when I can't go to sleep and I have class tomorrow or something.

Hahahahaahahaa, OMG that was so damn funny.

But ya anyways, my sleeping pattern is very screwed up too. Right now its 1:30AM and im a little tired but I always force myself to stay up longer. I dont know why, I just dont wanna go to sleep! Im porbably gonna be up till 5am. But once im sleeping I have no problem staying asleep. I like staying in bed as long as I can. But if I sleep for too long then strangely ill be tired all day. But I get about 8 to 9 hours of sleep. When I was working my sleeping pattern was a lot better. But I have nothing to do now so what the hell! Ill sleep till 3 in the afternoon :)

Thing is, i'd go to sleep earlier but i dont want the day to end, so i stay up until 3am sometimes all night, just because if i fall asleep i know i'll instantly wake up and it will be time for work ..

work isnt time to myself and i feel like im being controlled in most working environments, that stresses me out

Getting the proper amount of sleep is essential to mental and physical health. But it's a bitch getting into a good sleep routine. I'm supposed to start work at 7am but if I have a class the night before I don't crash till late. Then on the weekends I like to stay up late but then I wake up early. Luckily some weekends I can take naps in the afternoon.

My sleep is perpetually fucked.

I go to bed at about dawn and wake up about 2pm.
I've done this for many many years. I love it though, I absoloutly despise the morning. Bloody birds tweet-tweeting

Haha you described my situation to a tee. I can't goto bed before midnight on work days and when I am not working it pretty much past 3-4am. Right now its 3:30am here!

Partly its the solitude I suppose and also like Richey said its also partly about not liking having to goto work. Because when I do wakeup, its like I only went to sleep a moment ago.

But I should really try to goto sleep early, it might help with the concentration problems I seems to be having.
