Studies Reveal Why Kids Get Bullied and Rejected

This proves what my mother believed. When my brother was getting bullied fifteen years ago, teachers told her that was just the way kids are, and they would have to learn to deal with it. But she knew that you can't expect the kid to learn to deal with it, or better, avoid bullying, unless you teach them how, and this article explains how to help teach them.

It was in the top articles on Yahoo for days. I was happy.

This is kind of silly that scientists actually do studies like this. I suppose they have to get that hardcore fact proof; fair enough. But most of what was said should be common sense. Of course, kids who don't develop social skills in the sandbox are going to have trouble later in life. It's just like learning to walk!

What interests me is the idea of educating kids in these areas while they're still kids. My fiance and I have come up with some great ideas for adding various forms of social psychology to the elementary & middle school curriculums. With such life tools, children will grow up, and perhaps avoid the common pitfalls we sometimes falter in, as we bumble around in our lives.

I certainly hope some will be helped by these scientists' methods.:)

Ok i'm sorry but that article basically states that all kids who have social problems or are bullied or mistreated in school are the ones with the problem. that's a load of bull****.

the people who DO the bullying and try to make others feel inferior to compensate for their own insecurities are the ones with the problem, and usually they're the ones with some major issues in other areas of their lives.

it seems completely ludicrous to me to say that that's science. who's to say that the bullied children didn't develop the issues in other parts of their lives BECAUSE of their mistreatment from their peers? it's totally one-sided and i actually find it quite offensive.

Agreed 100%
It's a bit crappy to blame everything on the victim. It's not like those kids asked to be bullied. No sane person should hurt anyone, no matter what. It's NOT normal for a kid to go and pick on a classmate, it's violent behavior, it causes a lot of problems. Even if a kid has some troubles socializing, it doesn't give anyone the right to go and hurt him! Others should learn how to be nice to that person instead, right? That article is garbage.

A little bit too late eh? This would have been beneficial when I was a kid, but now... It's crap.
