Mary.. long time no see
As for salt.. its excessive usage is known to be a primary cause of hypertension in most of the world. Salt hardens your artheries, which as a consequence lose their ability to stretch according to pressure. This is something that naturally happens with age, and leads to all sorts of nasty consequences such as brain damage, ictus, and strokes. And really there is no need to accelerate the process taking extra doses of salt. A healty diet should contain LOW levels of salt.
I think food labels in the UK must indicate the sodium (salt) content of the product.. the less the better.
As for the small amount of table salt that one normally adds to food (unfortunately, most of the salt we ingest comes "hidden" into it already) it should preferably be sea salt, or salt with artificially added iodium, which is necessary for the correct functioning of the tyroidal gland.[

Hello my friend! Yes, long time no "see". But to reply to your post, this doctor who came across the water cure, doesn't say to add excessive amounts of salt. The amount he suggests is less than the recomended minimum per day. So don't worry about that.
Actually (and I know you especially will appreciate this) but there may be a biblical basis for the water cure. As it says in the bible, "we are the salt of the earth, and Jesus is the living water." Maybe that example holds a hidden meaning..
Anyway talk to you later Quixote..the baby is teething and I can only write in short and quick spurts!
