I just realized I'm only confident when I'm hated but when I'm liked I shy away from people... wtf lol.
If you know you're hated, you have nothing to lose. When people like you (or at least you know they don't dislike you), there's the feeling that asserting yourself may give them a reason to dislike you. I actually have never felt that I was hated, but I can imagine it could give you a sense of freedom in a way- you don't have to worry about ending up on someone's bad side, since you're already there.

I find that I am anxious when I know I'm disliked. I wish I had the OP's "problem" haha.
Yeah, I hate being hated. It makes me uncomfortable.
