does it run in the family

Does anybody have anyone in their family or relatives with sp? Since speaking to my mum about it she says her brother never really socialised much, and my cousin has been on antidepressants in the past and says she can handle on or two people but when more are involved she freaks out. They are older now and we all grew up in different parts of the world but have similar traits. I don't know how much it controlled their lives or maybe they learnt to deal with it . I had a much more sheltered childhood, maybe that had an effect on how my sp developed.

I'd say the anxiety does, but it's a culmination of various factors really.

My mum has anxiety for sure, it's easily spotted when she's driving - she's very quick to get irritable, frustrated and distracted. Dad is more relaxed and confident, almost defiant which usually indicates that there is or was some anxiety there. He still doesn't like using phones, I don't know if it's out of anxiety or laziness though.

hm, i don't know. my mom did say that she's always been shy, just not to the extent as SA. i too think it has to do with alot of factors. maybe she was just able to deal with it better than me, something to do with her personality.

also, all three of my grandfather's(on my mom's side) sisters were mentally ill (they're not sure, not much info in those days) and so was his mother. they'd all have "episodes" and them go preach in the street uncontrolably. random stuff like that

No one in my family has got tjhis problem. My mum has got problems but not anxiety. Mine came from problems I had when I was younger and it has just gone downhill from there
