I strongly doubt that it had anything to do with your eye color. In this study, people were just looking at pictures. Well, life doesn't work that way! We interact with people and that adds dozens of variables. i.e body language, tone of voice, content of remarks...etc.

The study says it actually has more to do with face shape than eye colour, so don't go buying brown contacts just yet.
