How long has it been a recognised problem?

I think it was back in the 1980's that American Psychological Institutes recognised SA specifically as a mental disorder.

Hopefully my GP will recognise that it exists before I reach 60.

Wasn't there a condition called Morbidly Shy? Is that the old school version? I googled it but gave up after 3 pages of crap. I like the idea of being morbidly shy. Has a certain air about it I think.

What i was getting at with this post is that most doctors will have heard of SA/SP and may have well dealt with it before?

Morbidly Shy? I think that was a song by The Smiths back in the mid-80's. Wasn't it on their "Miserable Gits" album.

The things is, I don't think I'm really all that shy...more anxious. Hey listen to me, getting all technical and sounding like a psychological guru  .

I dont think general gp's will reconise its sp, there more of a jack of all trade sort of thing, but they will pick up on anxiety and if they cant help you they will refer you to a specialist hopefully.

Even better, Mozza Syndrome. I could handle that. I have no idea what morbid shyness was, maybe it was just shyness for goths.

Well my GP diagnosed it. Although at first he called it neurosphenia or something. Anxiety and depression but it got changed somehow. Either way he was really cool.
