This is my first post. I am delving into the dangerous world of self diagnosis since my therapist doesn't like labels. I seem to fit AvPD in every way with exception to the fantasy world.

I do not now nor have I ever in the course of my life had a fantasy world. Although I do play a lot of video games but not RPG games. I suppose it could be argued that this could substitute a fantasy world. I do sometimes play out scenes in the games in my head but mostly in reflection of what occured during a game that day.

So is that absolutely necessary for a diagnosis? Some other traits i have that seem to fit are:
Low self esteem
Self loathing
Unworthy of relationships/avoidance
agoraphobia

I'm self-diagnosed, therefore, maybe not AVPD, although I think I am.

My fantasizing is only in the form of daydreaming and imagining what it would be like to have the relationships I want with people around me. I don't have the elaborate fantasies I have seen some people describe.

I don't think fantasizing is a necessary element. Try browsing around this site, which seems to be the most complete collection of useful information on AVPD I have found.
