Traffic lights

When I am on foot and wait in front of a traffic light, and there's cars waiting, I always feel like the people in the cars are observing and judging me. That the cars of full of angry a-holes who look at me with spite or something or are discussing how big of a loser I look like.

And when there's people on the other side of the street and I get the feeling that they're staring at me (and often times they do! what is it with people staring?!) I also find that terrible. I get stiff, don't know where to look, or try my best to look cool. It's awful.

Just some irrational small things in daily life that I can't seem to get rid of. How weird how these trivial things bother me. I just really hate waiting for traffic lights!

YES! I hate this too. I especially hate it when the lights are red and the cars are stopped, but you can't tell how long before it'll turn green, so you decide not to risk it and wait. And then, you end up waiting for a really long time and the longer you wait the more ridiculous you look. I'm sure all the drivers are thinking, "what an idiot, why doesn't he just cross? it's red!"

And on the rare occasions when you do risk it, the lights will suddenly turn green just as you step onto the road and you'll have to hurry and the drivers will probably honk at you or something. Yea, I hate crossing at traffic lights.

Mines not so bad when I'm at a cross walk. What bothers me is when I'm driving I like to follow the speed limit and people are literally on my back waiting to pass. It makes me feel so anxious.

That literally happens to anyone who's ever crossed a street. People in their cars just want to get home, or to work, or to whatever it is they're supposed to do at the time. I've had plenty of situations where the crosswalk light's green and I start crossing only to find out that it just turned red. In that situation, I either go back or just run to the other side. It's really not a big deal, but it becomes a big deal if you start overthinking something that's so small and of such little importance.

Besides, in the off chance that people WERE judging you, does it really matter? It's not like you have any sort of relationship with them, and you'll probably never cross paths again.

The less confident and self-acceptant you are, the more you'll be bothered by such miniscule things, and if you worry about such miniscule things, what's gonna happen when bigger ones come by (job interview, etc)?

Maybe try this: next time you are driving and see people walking on the street, think those exact same thoughts to yourself about them. You will see how ridiculous those thoughts sound, and how even if they are thinking that, they sound ridiculous too!
