Yeah that can hurt, maybe your humour was too subtle for them.

George Burns, the comedian, said that was the reason he smoked a cigar on stage.
Every time he finished telling a joke, he puffed on the cigar. That way the people who didn't get the joke know when to laugh.

A few things....
Those people are rude for not laughing anyway. Trust me, nice people react nicely just because you tried a joke, and attempted to make them feel good, It is that simple..
Well done for putting yourself out there and attempting humour...its not always easy.
Personally i would love it if someone took the time to even attempt an awkwardly executed joke, because it's nice. Its a lovely gesture to try to make people feel good and laugh...
