I find it is better to try and not force jokes out because this usually happens to me. Though sometimes I do it anyway knowing my mind is telling me "please no."

George Burns, the comedian, said that was the reason he smoked a cigar on stage.

Every time he finished telling a joke, he puffed on the cigar. That way the people who didn't get the joke know when to laugh.

What was the joke?

lol it wasn't really a joke joke but my boyfriend's dad said "who wants (hername)/mom to join us for dinner." I replied "I would like (hername)/mom to join us for dinner." After this I received a blank stare of wtf and then I someonehow managed not to say anything to anyone for the hour we were sitting and eating.

A few things....

Those people are rude for not laughing anyway. Trust me, nice people react nicely just because you tried a joke, and attempted to make them feel good, It is that simple..

Well done for putting yourself out there and attempting humour...its not always easy.

Personally i would love it if someone took the time to even attempt an awkwardly executed joke, because it's nice. Its a lovely gesture to try to make people feel good and laugh...
