Does anyone have trouble talking to a family member or friend on the bus or at the bus stop who is with you in front of other people?

Coz i do, i go shopping with my mum, and i talk to her at the bus stop but only if theres no one standing at the bus stop, if there is i don't or i do but not so much coz i'm worried they are listening into our conversation same as on the actual bus, if theres alot of people on the bus, i don't talk to my mum until we've got off at the stop we are supposed to go too but if theres no one on the bus, i talk to my mum, strange isn't it but it's because i'm worried they are listening in

I don't take the bus, but if I did and had to go with a family member or friend, I would do the same as you. In other situations like that I can usually talk to someone I know alone, but when others are around I will say nothing.

In the past, I could never speak at all, in a quiet, public place like a bus, or an elevator. I was way too self-conscience of how my voice sounded and whether I was saying something that people would think to be strange. It felt like every word was being evaluated by those around me. I felt like I was the center of attention, and that sent my anxiety through the roof.

I'm dealing with things a little better these days.

I take the bus practically everyday, i have no one to talk to usually. But i don't mind talking with my mum on the bus, cause its in another language, so no one can understand it to think it weird. If i talk with a friend on the bus it is usually ok.
I hate if someone offers me a seat though as obviously it draws attention to me. But i can say hello and thank you to the driver as i get off.
If i answer the phone on the bus i either feel fine or my face goes red depends on whether i sit at the front, many people around, and how quiet the bus is.

I can say thank you to the bus driver when i get off the bus aswell err well sometimes depends how i feel. And i also do it, coz i can hear the people in front getting off saying thanks and then when it comes to me i would feel kinda quilty or left out that i was the only one who didn't say thanks to the bus driver

Off topic, but: Do people in Australia thank the bus driver? I have taken the bus thousands of times, but never in my life heard anyone thank the bus driver. Guess Aussies are more polite... :)
