Weird Conclusion

Like many people on this forum, I suffer from hyperhidrosis.

However, for a few months now, I've noticed something unusual.

I live in FL and the weather down here is extremely hot during this time. I'm a person who has always worn socks, like literally every second of the day. However, I decided for some reason to start not wearing them.

My conclusion is: whenever I don't wear socks, my hands won't sweat. When I do wear them, my hands start to sweat almost immediately (especially once I put shoes on). If I'm wearing socks and I don't think about it, my hands probably won't sweat. However, now that I have this correlation between socks and sweaty hands, I can't not think about it.

Is this normal, or is just psychological?

Hmm that is a little weird. I have never had any experience with sweating from the palms or feet, but I do think it's all mental. Like you said, once you got that mindset into your brain, it's just stuck there. I would either maybe visit a psychologist, or buy yourself a pair of shoes with good ventilation. That way, those feet won't end up smelly by the end of the day. Also glycopyrrolate is a good medication to combat sweating from the hands. You could also try and check out the iontophoresis machine or get a strong topical deodorant such as drysol. I also live in Florida, and the high humidity along with those 90 degree temperatures are not helping at all with my sweating. I hope your sweating gets better!

I suffer from hyperhidrosis all over, and it is not mental. Yes being anxious or nervous will make me sweat, but I will also sweat when I'm all alone and relaxed if it's hot or if I do anything physical. I think for most people it is not so much about imagining things in your head. You put them in a hot place and they will sweat profusely no matter how relaxed.

So you sweat even when doing nothing by your self in a controlled environment?

No, its not unusual the correlation between hand and feet sweating. It's all about our central nervous system being off kilter. If I wear anything but cotton socks, the feet start sweating, the hands start dripping. This has been going on my whole life. The cause is not psychological, more like physiological.

Ionto helps my hands and feet. This is the first summer I'm able to wear sandals on a daily basis.

I think hyperhidrosis (well mine at least) is both psychological and physical. I sweat from my hands, feet, and right armpit (weird right?) but I've noticed certain things such as I can make myself sweat whenever I want to. If I notice my hands are dry I can just be like "hey guys want to see my hands sweat?" then I just think about it happening and it happens. So in that way it is something wrong mentally that allows that type of thing to happen but it is also physical because, well obviously something in the body has to cause it.

Sounds like typical HH stuff. Most of us can sweat at will.
