What do people think about me?

Everybody seems to look at me. When I'm outside and maybe in a shop or something. Everybody seems to stare at me for reasons I don't know. I can almost feel their eyes on me when I'm not looking. Because of that I feel very insecure and think a lot about how I look and how others probably look at me. I look like a normal person, maybe a bit overweight, but nothing too special. I sometimes have the feeling that I walk weird and that's why everyone is looking at me, but it shouldn't be that outstanding how I walk.

Hie yer hence from me heath!
Oh boy, you sound just like me. :giggle:

Though, because of my disability I do actually walk funny. When I was younger I'd always walk with me head down making sure I was walking as properly as I could. And I'm a big brown, bearded lad, so I'm very aware people will stare at me.

As far as what they think of me, I usually assume the worst. Mainly because I was bullied in school, so I usually think the worst when someone stares at me. So, I'm kinda nervous when I'm out and about, since I tend to standout when I do.

Yep, I know how it feels. It seems like I am on trial as soon as I walk out the door. I have had security called on me because of the way I "look''. People checking my items at the auto-checkout.

And because of it i cant seem to function anymore in social situations, like for example in school because i think even people that are good with me tend to talk behind my back when i am not there.

I'm sure of this because at school when some certain person is away I can hear people talking about that person saying something, even if they're just good with each other. So I wonder what they say about me too haha

Yes, feel the same way.

Have learned to accept and reassure myself that I am the way I am and won't change for no stranger. Including anyone who stares at me anywhere I go.

Doesn't matter what they think, I know what, who, where, when, why, and how I am.

Their thoughts don't concern me.

I feel the same way, but in reality they are not 'staring' at you. They're just glancing at you. They are just briefly turning around to look at who is coming in their direction. Or at least that's what I tell myself :p

True. This is the case sometimes. However, I have had people stare.

I know for sure, they'll "look" at me for at least 30 secs, usually longer. They’ll turn away, and then look back for another 30+ sec stare session.

But I shrug it off, and don't give them any satisfaction.

I feel that way most of the time, especially when I go out and walk through the street or go to some place.

Because of this condition, it is very common to experience those kind of feelings, which are mostly a product of our fear to be judged or badly criticized. That's why I wonder whether you are not experiencing the same thing, it is probably something that you feel or perceive from others but that is just not real, but a result of your fear and anxiety.
