What do you think would make the world a less cruel place?

Teaching people to communicate well as kids instead of just leaving them to figure it out.

Help one another. If someone needs help lend him a hand. If someone is being cruel he got to be stopped. Help him change his doings

I don't think the world will ever be a less cruel place until we change the human condition. We are a war-like species born with a thirst for violence (those who say they are not violent are just subconsciously suppressing it) due to our nature as predators. Until we can tweak our genetic psychology, there will always be infighting within our species.

Hey Ashiene I think this book would be of interest to you: https://www.amazon.com/Bonobo-Atheist-Search-Humanism-Primates/dp/0393347796
It's a book that discusses the roots of human behavior and there is a theory called the "Veneer Theory" that is what you are talking about (people being evil on the inside, but suppressing it). That's just one theory however and there is really interesting discussion about the roots of morality in our species. Really cool! You should buy it!

Ive never understood why millionaires need more and more and more. All at the expense of everybody else. Less greed would help to make the world a better place I think.

The world would flourish without human life, yet it would rot if all animal or insect life were erased.

But on a tad serious note, I'd say just having a better understanding of each other or being able to communicate better.
It's strange to think about what the world would be like if there was only 1 language. And it was simple..and everybody could understand each other.

*day dreams* oh my crazy fantasy and I...

^ This.
When I looked at the very long list of how many billionaires there are on this planet and how many billions each has, tears just randomly started falling down my face.

I think there should be a limit on how many billions each person can have, then the surplus money should be spent by a non-corrupt organisation to make sure no child under the age of 16 on this planet ever goes hungry because there is not enough food in their house.

My inner socialist agrees with you, but my inner capitalist wonders where you would draw the line.

I see corporate CEOs receiving—not earning, mind you, but receiving nonetheless—ten, twenty, forty million in yearly compensation, and it sickens me. Nobody needs that kind of scratch to survive in this world—nobody—and nobody's worth it, no matter their qualifications. If their personal expenses are so over the top and out of control that they require anywhere near that amount, they shouldn't be put in charge of companies funded by other people's money in the first place. Year after year, shareholders vote to approve these outrageous packages (reducing their own dividends in the process), and year after year, the executives gobble them up and ask for more.

Why does it cost so much to fund the military? Why is healthcare so expensive? You can ask a dozen different questions along those lines, and the answer will be the same: corporate greed. It starves the poor and rapes the planet while a few fat fucks pile up more dough than any normal, sane, responsible person could spend in ten lifetimes.

What can we do about it, though? At least in the U.S., the law protects and supports this insanity. Corporations are "people" now, absurd as that sounds. They make enormous contributions to political parties and candidates, guaranteeing that their voices will be heard over the feeble complaints of the little people who oppose them. They are as much a part of our government as Congress and the President and just as powerful, if not more so. Barring a new revolution (perhaps worldwide), I don't see how things will ever change.

If humans disappeared. The world would be at peace.

Agreed. It's not the world that is cruel it's the people in it.

As i get older i come to accept that i just don't like people. I mean i'm sure there are some lovely people out there but in general i just don't like people.

Another thought after seeing this gruesome article. If there was a foolproof way to prevent violent crimes and murders from happening. Of course thats probably impossible, but no one should have to leave this world the way some have.

If everybody applied the golden rule - treat others as you would have them treat you. But of course to have that happen, everybody would have to lose their ego's & raise their consciousness, so that "separation" would then disappear, and then the golden rule could then be readily/easily applied.
