What to get my mom for her birthday?

It's hard for me to admit this, but I have no one in this world who truly cares about me but my mom. She's the only person who calls to ask how I am, the only person who sincerely loves me, and the only person who would go out of their way to make me happy...

Her birthday is coming up soon, and I want to get her something nice, but I can't think of anything. I'm never invited to birthdays, so my experience with gifts is minimal; someone told me they'd help me pick a birthday gift for her, but unsurprisingly, she never called to set an appointment to do so...

My mom has no hobbies really...she's just your average mom (I'm 21 by the way).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's so nice to hear that you appreciate and love your Mum. Like you, my Mum loves me unconditionally and it's comforting to know that she's there. I was very close to my Dad also. Unfortunately, he passed away not too long ago and after I got through the worst of the grief I was experiencing, I realised how much I appreciate them and never to take them for granted.

On a lighter note... If your Mum doesn't really have any hobbies to speak of, I'm pretty sure most Mum's/women in general like to be pampered. So maybe a gift voucher for a Day Spa? I know I'd love that! Or even take her out to a nice restaurant for dinner - better still, cook her dinner yourself (only if you're capable of more than boiling an egg!) How about jewelry? I'm sure she will love anything you give her. It's the thought that counts :)

I think the spa idea is a lovely idea as well :) what does she enjoy? you could take her to see the theater/opera/comedian if there are any shows she'd like to see. Or you could take her out shopping some place and take a note of what she likes, buy it for her next time.

Maybe take her round the shops and see what she expresses interest In. A lot of the time I will take my Mum up town and let her pick something and act like that's all I can afford. But I note down what she likes and then get her that as a surprise.

I think it's always worth shelling out a little more for a really nice card too.

I think whatever you get your Mum, she will be happy that you have gone to all this effort.
