What's new? (Having SA and no one to talk to - let's change that!)

With SA, it's hard to make friends. So that probably puts a lot of us in lonely situations. I get really frustrated that I don't really have anyone to share things with. I imagine you guys do too. So, I'm asking everyone - what's up!? Anything fun going on in your life? Something stressful you need to let out? It doesn't need to be SA related. Just share :)

This is what's new with me: I'm going off to college next Saturday. I'm both really nervous and excited. It's out of my comfort zone, and I'll probably have setbacks, but I want to come a little more out of my shell! I want to see if I can make a friend or two. Crossing my fingers here.

It can get frustrating not having anyone to share things with. Good luck at college. I hope it will be a great experience for you and fun.

As for me, I am applying for a couple of jobs so hopefully that will lead to some work maybe. Also thinking about maybe doing some volunteer work at an animal charity shop or library. Hopefully will have something to do soonish.

I mostly chat with people online. And even then it feels like not enough social interaction. :/ I'm hoping now that I'm starting college and working a new job, I will make some friends.

What jobs are you applying for if you don't mind me asking?

Been mostly applying for retail and hosptality jobs cause they need the least experience. So far been very unsuccessful. But i did manage to get some volunteer work at a library, so at least that's something, I guess.

I had a job working at a grocery store for 9 months that i just recently quit actually. I wanted to get a year's experience there but i started to hate the job too much to stay. Before that i had a job at costco (it is a big wholesale store) and i quit that job after like 2 months.. Anyways I the main part of my job at the grocery store was bagging people's groceries and being nice to them. I thought that it might help me with my anxiety but tbh it only made me miserable. It was pretty much an experiment to see if i could desensitize myself and hopefully have less anxiety, but it just did the opposite in a way. I know that isn't something anyone with anxiety would want to hear. Don't get me wrong though, if i actually had a job that i liked i would be willing to put up with interacting with people, but being a bagger at a grocery store completely sucked. Anyways, now i'm actually going the exact opposite route and getting a job as a janitor. I want to see how i feel being alone while working, plus it is the only job available for me. I just really hope i don't become bored out of my mind. It's not like i enjoy being alone, i just can't function around other people.

I'm in high school and I was finally after almost a year of likeing them able to ask the girl I like to a school dance and they said yes! Now all I have to do is not completely shut down at the dance from all the nervousness...

I wish you the best with college. Keep in mind while you're there that everyone in college is open to making new friends. Everyone wants to meet people, so don't be afraid to talk to some people in your classes, join clubs, etc.

In my life, nothing fun is really going on. Life is pretty routine with work and college. College work takes up a lot of my time studying late at night. It's the most stressful because I have no friends myself. It would be much easier to study knowing I have something excited to look forward to like going to a party on the weekend. The most exciting thing going on in my life, I suppose, is that I'm doing more things to hopefully make friends. I'm going to join a few college clubs. I'm starting acting classes January of next year. Also, I'm continuing to practice music a lot. When I feel that I'm ready, I will start performing live at open mics or whatnot and I'll begin writing a demo album.

Update, i've been playing a lot of online poker lately. I just learned how to play a few weeks ago. I might actually go to a poker room to try to win some money eventually. Atm though i'm still a beginner and know I need to learn a lot more stuff first. I want to be at least semi-confident in my abilities before i start playing for actual cash.
