why do people think i'm arrogant?

why do people who don't know that a person has social anxiety disorder usually mistake them for being mean or arrogant or aloof? it's funny because people with SA are usually nice, humble, and insecure.

I know what you mean here,people often think iam arrogant and a bit of a snob when i am NOTHING like that at all,i have also been told that i think iam better than everyone else.

I think this comes from me not realy talking to people,and then people think that iam not talking to them because i think iam better than them if that makes sense.

When i started in a new yard at work over 2 years ago one of the bosses told one of my work makes that he didnt like me,when asked why this was he sayed he didnt like the look of me :? i still dont get on with him till this day,its not that i have a problem with him but the fact i know he has a problem with me makes it difficult for me to like him.

yea its like someone goes to you
"hello"
to which i would jsut kinda stare at them.
they probably see it as me looking atthem going "who the hell are you" when really its "say hello for gods sake jsut open your mouth and say hello. simple h.e.l.l.o." but then i dont lol.

It is kinda funny that the quiet ones are mistaken for being arrogant! Happens to me too, all through school and continues. I think there are so many loud, social, opinionated people walking around this earth, that we look so unusual I guess, cause we are not loudmouths like them

Perhaps its because we don't easily let people into our safety zones. We put up walls to protect ourselves and in doing so we don't let many others see the real us.

I think these persons are not to blame because that's the image we give. I have also judged other people wrong when I have just met them and as I've been knowing them more and more my opinion about them has changed (for better of for worse). The same is for me, there are people that at first thought i was arrogant or something worse and as they have been knowing me their opinion have changed.
