Wooster reports the first time use of Avert!

Hi chaps,

I received my 30x1mg Avert on Monday night. Well I can start by saying, it works. Terrifyingly well. But saying that, I'm still learning how to handle it best.

So I got it Monday night and decided to give it a go (I thought I would test it first before school the next day). So I took the first two. Half an hour later, literally no change. So I take another two. This time I wait an hour (at 1.5 so far), and I start to notice maybe a little change). So I take another three! (btw, I'm 6'3 215 pounds so I assumed that my body just needed more) and I wait another hour (2.5). And no real change. Then bang, somehow in that extra half hour, at three hours after I totally was slammed! Like not a drop of sweat!! No where at all. But holy, was my mouth dry as hell! I tried to go take a walk, but my mouth became so dry I had to return.

Aahah, so I wake up on tuesday, and I promise myself never to take more than 6! I took five on tuesday, found it was a little too much. Wednesday I took four, and today I took two. Unfortunately this has all timed with me coming down with a cold. At first I thought this medication was messing me up, but after the runny nose and hurting ears, I knew I was sick.

So what I've learned! This is a miracle drug, I was able to hold onto peoples hand, shake hands, high five, and do all the normal things. Also, it takes me a good 3-4 hours for this stuff to kick in. So starting Monday when I have school, I'll get up two hours earlier, pop a 2mg, then go back to sleep. Then maybe after breakfast I'll take another 2mg depending how I am. And besides the dry throat I've never experienced any other side affects (like difficulty urinating).

I've always had the emotional confidence to talk to people and engage with others. In that sense, my social phobia is nonexistent. But now I hope that I can finally ask a girl out and not be afraid of hand holding or any other romantically inclined things.

Cheers,
Wooster

edit: Hey can I even toss out a big corporate high five to whoever made Avert?

I also made the same mistake my first time using Avert. I took 2mg and then 2 hours later I took another 2mg because I thought it wasn't working. Well, it turns out it takes 4.5 hours for the medicine to kick in for me. I can actually get by with just 2mg a day (I'm only 100 pounds). I strongly recommend starting out at low doses and seeing what the smallest amount that will work for you is. Congrats on being able to live a normal life! It's a wonderful feeling to not be a slave to HH anymore!

Hi Wooster!

7 mg? Yeah, that's a lot, but we all learn by doing. You'll also find you need different amounts on different days--weird.

Still, it's a blessing, once you learn what's right for you.

You said you'd maybe take more after breakfast Monday. OK, but make it about 2 hours later. (An empty stomach seems to be the key.)

Continued good luck! :D

Well I took 2mg today; worked flawless. Mind you, it was pretty non-stressful stuff: doing homework and shopping. While I was on the metro, I would rub my hands just to hear the sound of them. It was an amazing feeling. I wanted to run up and shake someones hand! Truly liberating. So I figure maybe 2mg for uneventful days. 3mg for school days, and maybe 4mg for ultra stressful events (like job interviews).

But I have noticed (as someone else did, I remember reading), my taste buds are a little different. Sweet drinks taste overly sweet to me. So if anything it's seemed to have heightened my taste of sweetness. That's what I've noticed so far. Oh and as well, it makes me lose my appetite (which is a good thing actually).

Cheers,
Wooster

Wooster,

I was wondering how you've been getting on with avert in the meantime. Still good, consistent results or not so much?

And how about the side-effects, if any?

I'm trying to establish the best sequence of possible meds to try out and it seems like glycopyrrolate (Avert/Robinul) is working out nicely for people, but many just post once about it and I'm particularly interested what it does over 1 month, year and longer. I know margie is been posting here about it for ages and thanks for that, but my situation is more comparable to yours in terms of type of sweating (generalised, everything but my head really) and gender, so it would be good the learn some more.

That was me that mentioned the taste difference. It only happens to me when I take too much. At my regular dose I taste things the same way I normally do.

Hey guys! I've still been taking Avert (I ordered the big 100x 2mg one) and it still works charmingly. If the price quadrupled I'd still buy it. I feel in control of my life. There's this one girl I've wanted to ask out for a while, and now I don't have to worry about my hands. hah! I just have to worry about everything else that is wrong with life :)

As for side effects. Definitely there are some. I can't take it more than four days straight. I just feel so dried out! I go to school 3 days, work 2, and then have a break from Avert the other 2 days. But yes, the side effects are that you feel dry, thirsty, and other things like that. I also notice a slight change in taste... but it's probably just more like my mouth is dry.

That being said, I almost consider myself an ex-HH sufferer. It's there, all I have to do is get off my pills, and it comes back. So more like a shadow that comes out during the night...

Seriously, everyone needs to buy this drug!
Cheers,
Erik
