Xanax,Lexapro

My doc just started me on Xanax and Lexapro, and I wanted to know if anyone else has experience with taking either of these meds. I've taken Lexapro in the past, and has worked well for general anxiety, but not for my more severe social anxiety. And Xanax, i've done some research on the net, some say it works for SA, some hate it with a passion because of withdrawal symptoms. Personally, I hate ALL meds, but I had to start taking something because I have been feeling horrible, but this will probably only be short term treatment for me.

I haven't been on Lexapro ever but I've heard a lot about its efficiency. It's most dose efficient SSRI and is calimed to be at least 2 times potent than Celexa(the best SSRI i've tried.) so least liver damage and other side effects should be expected.
I was on xanax 2 years ago but it only worsened my anxiety but someone say it works better for women. Btw i prefer klonopin(its great).

I'm on Lexapro and I also have some Ativan. I'm going without Ativan now. Does the Lexapro work? I'm not sure but I'm somewhat better than I was before if that makes sense. I have not been on it for very long. Less than a month so I'm not sure.

I started lexapro about 3 weeks ago for depression/SAD and am loving it. Its made such a huge difference in my confidence and self esteem.

Lexapro is good for major depression but it kinda sucks for Dysthymia.

I agree with your intuition. I have helped more people by taking them off these kind of medications than I have helped by putting them on. Wean slowly over a threee week period, last week being lowest dose every third day. Work on your life, that is the best medicine.
