Xanax (lorazepam) and Panic Attacks

I am wondering if anyone out there uses lorazepam to help cope with panic attacks, and if so, how do you use it?

I have a prescription for lorazepam and I use it when I feel a panic attack coming on. Or, if I know I will be in a situation where I am likely to have a panic attack, I take it shortly before I am in the situation. Usually I'll take it in .5mg increments (hypothetically, before and during a situation). I have a hard time noticing the effects (sometimes I feel like its not working!) so...

I am just looking for advice from other users on how you administer the drug and what dosages used. thanks!

Xanax is alprazolam not lorazepam. Lorazepam is ativan. .5 mg is pretty much the standard starting dose for Xanax, but I dunno much about ativan.

My husband has to take that med and sometimes it works and sometimes it does'nt. I guess it all depends on the person. If you don't mind me asking how long have you had these attacks and how long do they last. My husbands had them last as long as 3 hours. :(

I’m also suffering from anxiety and panic disorder problem. My doctor prescribes me xanax for it and it is working. I think you should consult with a doctor before you take this. You can get more information about xanax at http://www.xanax-effects.com

I use xanax of 0.25ml when i feel not in shape...they help reducing the symptoms but they dont heal u as my doc said...for healing purposes he told me seroxat...i used it for 1 year and the anxiety back off,i might have had one minor in 4-5 months but recently i faced some big difficulties and i got back the attacks and i started it again along with xanax...right now i am in the first 2 weeks so i cant tell u more, the only thing is that xanax of 0.50 made me sleepy a lot, when xanax of 0.25 i use is not ultra helping but at least it covers the symptoms even for a day!The only thing is that its a drug that needs to be given from a doctor and its addictive!

Self-medication is not recommended. Talk to a psychiatrist about your problem, don't ask non-professionals to tell you over Internet what dosage you should use - every organism is different. You should be careful with benzodiazepines.
