Your daily routines?

Hi everyone! :)

I would just like to know what your daily routines consist of?

Do you get up at a certain time? are your days very structured? are your days all over the place? Do you use any self help techniques? etc

I think it would really help to see what area's we may be slacking in and what area's we may be using really constructively. I would also like to know what is in your routine that has had noticeable effects on your SA or even just your mood in general.

I'd like everyone to be as honest as possible and for it to be only your recent routine like how u have been the last few months. :)

Ill start the ball rolling:

My days are usually unstructured. I dont get up at a certain time although I have been trying to get up early (about 8 or 9) but it usually ends up being 10 or 11. I make sure to go out at least once on my own in the day. Sometimes I will just lay there and not feel like getting up but eventually I will.

I don't eat regular (my stomach has been in knots a lot recently). I may eat a meal or 2 a day. I drink lots of water throughout the day (i'm trying to cut all caffeine out of my diet). I use EFT for at least an hour or two. Sometimes I will paint but I seem to procrastinate lately. I will try to say yes if i get invited anywhere by friends even if i don't particularly want to (this does not happen every day though of course).

I go to bed quite late, it usually ends up being anywhere from 12 to 3. I usually will be thinking a lot while i'm in bed which can keep me up also.

So my routine is far from perfect haha! :)

The going out everyday on my own has made me slowly more comfortable outside. The EFT has been working profoundly well and some situations I can see small results already. The drinking water more and cutting out caffeine is making my mood a lot more stable.

I think i'm still being very lazy in other area's of my routine. I gotta try and eat more too, and regularly.

Hullo, Wullie. Oops, William...

We're kinda similar in terms uh daily routine, so yer not alone, pal. Anyway, here an overview uh mine. Git ready tae be bored sh*tless! Amused and bewildered coz ah'm gonnae writin' this, mostly, in ma native Scots accent.

Well, depending on whether or no' ah stay up late watchin' the telly, watching BBC Three or a movie on Film 4, ah usually try to get to ma bed early.

Lately ah've bin gittin' up by aboot 10, of half past 10 in morning. But ony because ah've bin settin' ma alarm on weekdays. Usually anythin' afore mid-day doesnae exist tae me.

Anyway, ah git up, sit on ma bed a wee minute then open the curtains and blinds. Git dressed, then it's doon the stairs tae clean ma teeth.

Then ah huv ma breakfas. Usually, either, cereal or a sandwich during the week, and a bacon roll or scrambled eggs at weekends. Ah huv ma lunch at either efter 12 o'clock or just after 1 in the afteroon. Then ah huv ma supper at either 3 o'clock if ah'm feel peckish, or nae later than 5 o'clock.

The reminder o' ma days pretty much unstructured like yours. Ah usually just laze aboot, try and keep ma mind busy. Reading, writing or playin' ma guitar - or watchin' DVDs or watch summit online. Ah use to paint but it become too much hassle and a right mess tae clean up.

Ah've bin kinda procrastinatin' lately when comes tae ma creativity. Startin' wonder if ah've lost that passion ah hud when ah wuz a wee lad? :thinking:

But when ah'm no' being a lazy bugger, ah try and help oot round the house. But ma mum always says she can manage, so ah jist leave her to it. The time she'll ask fur help is cleanin' the windows or gittin' summit from the high shelves in the kitchen cupboards - coz she's a wee wummin. :giggle:

Oh! And, like you, at night in bed, thinking and ma thoughts general keep me awake. Thinkin' aboot whit ah might do tomorrow, thinkin' aboot ma past, questioning ma creativity abilities and whether ah'm as funny or talent as ma family give me credit for being? What might've bin hud a made more of an effort when ah was in ma teens, and so on... And that's ma daily routine.

Thanks for sharing your routine! :)

Haha yeah sounds very similar to mine! I try helping around the house too when I can. I have to help my mum reach for things a lot too! I think she's shrunk from all the cooking she does :S

I always find myself watching film 4 and bbc three too. But I have no freeview box anymore so it's just netflix for now, watching the same shows over and over again LOL -_-

Do you exercise or anything like that? It's something i'm thinking I should probably get into. I mean i'm just sat down most of the time.

Also its never too late dude! :) I only started painting 2 years ago and now I earn money doing it :) It's how much passion you have and sometimes I find it's how much inspiration is there too. I just look at my favourite paintings from my favourite artists or go to a museum or watch art documentary's to get me back in the mood and give me that passion I need to pursue it.

Anything is possible! Again thanks for sharing your routine! We sound very similar haha :)

day after day

I like days where I can get the ball rolling early, and be awake both physically and mentally early on. Waking up physically isn't very difficult for me, but mentally my mind has been so clouded lately. It often last almost all day. I cannot think clearly, and I simply cannot function. I'm technically awake, but I feel almost brain dead. I don't know if it's depression or what, but it's making every day so much more frustrating to deal with. Anyways, I may be going off topic, so I'll try to think of my typical routine.

I usually wake up fairly early, between 7am-10am. Sometimes earlier because of insomnia.

The very first thing I do is take the two pills I take in the morning.

The second thing I do is eat. I love eating, I swear it's the only thing I look forward to every day, lol. Then I have something to drink and mix my vitamn c powder in with it.

I don't really have much of a routine after this. My life is excruciatingly boring right now. I just wait until the other times to do my favorite thing... eat.

Then I try to go to my yoga class sometime throughout the day, usually 4-5 days a week. The time differs depending on the day.

My routine tends to differ from day to day. If I somehow am going outside that day to do something that isn't going to the store or the gym, or whatever, I'll put some makeup on. This is getting more and more rare for me though.

Man.... I really need a freaking job.

I try too, but ah never really stick with it. Or keep sayin' ah'll do but in the end don't bother... Ah really should exercise more often, though.

Whoa! That's great, earning money from yer passion. Ah wish ah could do that maself.

But ah kinda feel slightly jaded and cynical about ma creative passions noo. Mainly because ah feel ah wuz discouraged from pursuing them. Ah've still got the passion, ah jist don't huv that creative urge to put pen to paper or pencil to canvas, y'know? But that's whit a lack uh self-confidence'll do to ya... Sorry, that got a wee bit depressin' at the end there.

You want to know how I got these scars?
weekdays yea its very structured for me.
up at 4-5am, head to work. come home, do the usual things i need to do.

weekends and while i am on holidays, I LOVE being spontaneous.
so, whatever takes my fancy at the time!

for me, nothing is more boring during my free time, than a locked in, set out, pre planned routine.
Isn't that what work is for? :)

My days and moods are very much all over the place.

I am working two jobs right now, so depending on when I have to go in, I either wake up super early (5am) or later on (either 7am or later on about 10am-11am). Ideally I would wake up around the same time every day, perhaps around 7am or 8am. Bedtime is the worst though. I take my meds at night and zone out to some Netflix. I like to stay up, but that will make some mornings super hard. I know that if my sleeping patterns were more balanced I would feel much better but that is just not possible right now so I just manage as best as I can.

Eating is all over the place too. I like having a latte in the morning and some oatmeal, but again, that is not always possible. Sometimes I skip breakfast altogether. Lunch will depend on where I am at. I either eat at work or will have lunch with my sister. Dinner usually consists of a diner or fast food (eek!)

Because of the two jobs I don't have much time to myself which is both a good thing and bad thing. I have to arrange to see my therapist once a week (sometimes I have to reschedule). I will be taking a class or two next week when the semester starts. As an introvert sometimes it is all too much. I am surrounded by people all day. It can be exhausting. While I am kinda tired right now, I know that I am still adjusting to it all and just keep going.

Thanks for sharing :) Yeah I usually have a drink with those vitamin c powder things most mornings. You go to yoga classes? That must be helping you with your SA right? Have you made any friends there?

Yeah I imagine a job could help with routines, but i mean as long the job isn't too bad when it comes to affecting your SA. I remember wanting a job so badly but when i did it was too hard to continue doing it. The people where just ****s and i became more afraid going in by the day but then again I have worked in places that have fixed my routine and actually had people that are genuinely quite nice be around even if i dont say much.

Eating is a hobby i should really start taking up haha! I really need to eat more myself :)

Yeah your right there. I think I need to start painting more. That used to take up at least a good 5 hours a day. That would be time that would stop me thinking of bad thoughts and dwelling, instead I felt quite good after.
I would then take maybe a couple of days off and do whatever and it felt like I earned it :)

Very good point you raised there!

I try to wake up early, but I have insomnia, what makes this a battle everyday.
I usually put some documentary to watch and then wait for lunch and take my meds for SA. After that I have a whole afternoon, alone in my room, reading, writing, on computer, and wait till night to get to go to college.

I'll try to change this daily routine. I'll look for a job, try to get out more, and also do some exercise (hate it !!!!)

That's my day. Boring... x_x

Thankyou for sharing your routine :)

haha yes I hate exercise too -_- I may try to do more... but i doubt I will get round to it.
I can imagine insomnia must be a real burden on your mood. I sleep quite a lot generally. I guess it's something you cant have too much of and cant have too little of.
I tend to watch documentaries before I go to bed. Maybe that's why I find it easier going to sleep LOL

What medication are you taking for SA? and is it helping in a noticeable way? :)

Yes I imagine having 2 jobs can be both a blessing and a curse. I imagine you don't have much time to yourself :( and I imagine it must be so hard if almost every day your having to face all those people.
I really hope you get better and eventually can face the people at work! :)
It's great you are getting therapy too. I mean that is the first and biggest step of all! :)

Well my typical summer day goes like this:

I wake up around 7 or 8 o'clock in the morning, wash my face and put my contact lenses on, then eat breakfast. Depending if there's any leftover breakfast that my mom made for my dad, I would sometimes just re-heat it again or cook something else. After I'm done eating, I would put my gym clothes on, and drive towards the gym. I'm usually there for like an hour or sometimes 3 hours, depending if I feel like doing extra reps or other stuff. After that, I drive home, drink my protein shake, take a shower, and eat again. By the time I'm done doing all that it's usually like 1 or 2 in the afternoon. I spend the rest of the day sipping on green tea (my favorite drink), on the internet: watching youtube videos, on social media sites, or reading news articles.

Note: I don't go to the gym everyday, depending on my routine: 2 days on 1 day off. I also started a course on Coursera that I'm doing just for the heck of it. I procrastinated a lot and didn't get to finish it. I'm also suppose to be reading my text book for one of my classes in college just to get a head start, but I never even got to read the first page. I think I'll start today... or later, meh.

Yep and that's a typical summer day for me.

I've found caffeine to be helpful for some social situations, in so much as it helps you to perk up and become interested in what someone else is saying, and the short-term boost in confidence. I would think some folks with SA can benefit from moderate use, although excessive use can contribute to anxiety.

I have a structured routine, it helps keep my head clear.

-Wake up
-Check E-mail on phone
-Drink some coffee
-Turn on the computer
-Watch some YouTube videos
-Check week routine checklist
- ...
-Go to bed at 11:40 PM

From there it's different every day.

Monday;
-Clean the general area

Tuesday;
-Volunteer
-Short shower

Wednesday;
-Dust thoroughly
-Vacuum thoroughly

Thursday;
-Volunteer
-Short shower
-Do laundry

Friday;
-Thirty minutes of relaxation
-Blow dusty out of the computer
-Check weight/update weight chart

Saturday;
-Clean computer registry/run antivirus
-Backup important computer files
-Clear E-mail/cookies/history on computer
-Update/change passwords (if necessary)
-Take down and fold laundry

Sunday;
-Thorough shower
-Get caught up with internet content/sites

My routine is kind of screwy since I work overnight and sleep during the day, but here it goes.

9:00-10:00pm- Wake up take shower, eat dinner.
10:00pm-7:00am- Work, sometimes I get out later than 7.
7:00am-5:00pm Come home, watch tv, play video games, do school work, screw around on the internet.
5:00pm-9:00pm- Sleep

I work every other day, except saturday and sunday which I work back to back, so on days I have off, I sleep from 5:00pm till 7:00am.

On an ideal day my routine is as follows, although often the juicing, oil pulling and vitamin taking falls by the wayside.

Get out of bed somewhere between 0645-0715
Oil pull with coconut oil
Make a fresh juice with green vegetables, lemon and apples
Take a load of vitamins, Vitamin C, Multivitamins, Niacin, Spirulina, Vitamin D&E, Magnesium, Kelp and Flaxseed.
Have some breakfast which is normally an omelette and some coffee.
Cycle to work
Endure 8 hours of wage slavery.
Cycle home, stopping off at the park for a cigarette
Make some dinner
Spend the evening on the PC or watching educational youtube videos or a series that I'm into on Netflix, which is currently Fringe.
11pm is bedtime.

I've been meaning to insert some more good habits into my routine like going for regular saunas, going to the gym and meditating, but I haven't been able to muster up the gumption yet.

I get up around 5am. I always...ALWAYS take a shower before I do anything else. I eat breakfast. And do my make up. Walk the dog with my daddy. After this I head to dialysis or some doctor's appointment or go with my dad somewhere. Sometimes I like to go out to the mall or the library. :D

In the middle of the day I might take a nap, read a good book, do word search, use the computer,watch tv, listen to music, or play some videogames.

In the evening I prepare dinner, feed the dog, take a second shower, and do other hygiene stuff. Then I hit the hay(go to bed) around 9pm or 10pm.

I have literally come a very long way from SA and depression controlling my life to the point I would just lay in bed from sun up to sun down. Those days are way behind me now. ;)
