zoloft

I took zoloft a while back for my depression. It was okay for a little while, but then I started to feel angry, like really angry in a way I'd never felt before. So I was diagnosed SSRI-induced bipolar.

Other than that, I remember that it gave me really terrible night sweats :? Not pleasant.

i have been taking it for about 2 years and it's helped me a lot. i used to get really bad panic attacks and ive only had one since i started and that was a little over a month after i started taking it. so for me, i feel that it has worked :D

i also think it helped with social anxiety because i wasnt so nervous talking to people after taking it.

SSRI-induced bipolar means that I become bipolar when I take them. I wasn't really anymore once I stopped, but I still don't really understand what it all means to be honest! Taking bipolar meds didn't help, and I actually developed an allergic reaction that almost became fatal.

When I was looking on Wikipedia's entry for social phobia, this one part stuck out to me: "studies show that more socially phobic patients treated with anti-depressant medication develop hypomania than non-phobic controls." Hypomania pretty accurately describes how I felt taking zoloft, so maybe this is a common problem for SA sufferers. I'd still give it a try of course, it looks like it's worked well for others!

I was on Zoloft but only for a month. It made me really anxious ALL the time for no reason and it made me more disconnected than ever... I FELT drugged, if that makes sense. But everyone is different so hopefully it works for you...

I do and it doesn't help at all, but I have to continue taking it because I'm going to college this year and my psychiatrist thinks I'll go throuhg withdrawl and it will cause problems.

Mush, I'm not on Zoloft, but I've been on Paxil for almost 2 months. I get that same restless feeling you are experiencing. I get very depressed if I'm just chilling around the house. I'm not sure if the Paxil is helping my anxiety or not though. I'm tempted to ask my doctor to raise the dosage and see if I can feel anything. Either way, I have to work on CBT with my therapist to get the best results.

I took Zoloft for about 10 months. I personally didn't think it worked the way i thought it would. For some reason it made me not care about a lot of things and I started getting irritated and having angry outbursts. I ended up getting fired from my job...apparently the pills made me 'crazy' and negative...at least that's what my ex supervisor said :(
I had to stop taking them shortly afterwards because I lost my health insurance when I lost my job. I did experience some withdrawal symptoms...tremors, weakness. Nothing too bad.

I started taking Zoloft for my SA about a month ago. I was also skeptical like you but decided to go for it. After doing a fair bit of research it seemed like it did completely different things to different people. I personally think it is starting to help me these past couple weeks. The first week was rough, pretty edgy, really tired and some headaches. But now that's gone and in general i am less anxious, and situations that previously made me start sweating and blushing don't seem to now. In short, its helping me so i'm gonna keep taking it. The rec dose for SA (and what i'm taking) is 50mg (as opposed to 200mg for depression) so i don't think i'll have much of a problem (and my doc says this also) getting off of it in the future. I say give it a go, get through the first period of side effects and if you don't like it after a month or two then stop.
