Anyone never worked before?

I'm 25 and only worked for one summer and... another summer, maybe. Never had a "real" job, but the truth is I don't even know what a real job for me would be. Doing things that I don't like or that I find pointless really bothers me.

Yes, I feel embarrassed, pathetic, afraid others see me as lazy or retarded...

I haven't had a real job. Nothing steady that I go to every week anyway.

I was a sushi waitress, but I got fired after two days because I am too quiet.

And then there is nude modeling. I did that for four days and then was told I wasn't allowed to because I am a student at the college I was modeling for. But then I got called to come in again tomorrow and Wednesday. Don't know what's up with that. I'm probably going to get in trouble.

I've never had anymore then crappy part time jobs. Whenever I do get a job I tend to stay with it too long. I think it's because I fear having to look for another one. Also, I never think I am skilled enough to take certain jobs.

I'm 18, I've never had job. I don't really plan on having a job till I get out of college. I don't know what I will do when I get out though, I don't even know what I will study. Hopefully I will finish it though.

Actually i am 41 and have only had one job for one year. I have had depression, ocd, social phobias since a very young age. Yes, it can be embarrassing but everyones different. I have learned alot in these years and now realize that working is not the ultimate goal of life. It certainly makes a difference in how much you can do and how secure your life is as far as a home, car, etc. But some of us just cant do it. So keep going and dont worry about it. It also does nt mean that you never work.

I've had four jobs, and all of them were very unsucessful.
Two of them I was fired from, one I quit because of verbal
abuse, and the last one... I've made mistakes that affected
others.

I'm a sushi waitress too! But wtf? They fired you for being too quiet? My boss thinks I'm a hard worker and a good employee because I'm quiet. You need to come over to my little area of the world and work with me :)

I've had pretty much the same job for a year and a few months. Mostly cause I had no choice - my boss hired me and apparently, he's the only one who'll hire me. I can't seem to find any other jobs when I go looking.

I'm 19 and have never worked before. However, I'm hoping I can change this soon. My problem is that I have anxiety just going up to someone and asking for the job application form in addition to fearing that I won't be able to handle the job or do something to embarrass myself.

I've worked across a number of different fields and one thing i can a test to is that a job is a job and the only difference is that you may be paid more or less in the bracket of 10-15 grand under or over until you start getting into running your own business or if you are in engineering or medicine, or if you are high up on the ladder in any industry. there is a certain level of judgement that can be associated with certain jobs compared to others but to be honest every job is a set of tasks and most of the time these tasks are fairly tedious and forced so the likelihood of you being happy in a job is raised if it meets your interests. you'd be more likely to feel happy mopping the floor or making cups of tea at a music store if you loved music or a museum if you liked history then you would just any random place that a job accepted you. you may even be happier doing that then having an office job at a major business that you dont even care about but you make a little more money at.

i don't think anybody really wants to work unless they are in control which is often next to impossible, somebody whether its the client or the managers are directing your actions and over time we just learn to deal with it because it pays.

So if you can find THAT job which increases the skills that you genuinely want to improve and use int he future then you are on the right track. but total freedom in any job is next to impossible accept maybe courier drivers where there is alot of down time to think and to be yourself.

but well to cut a long story short,,,,,,,
me and my wee brother hired a car, got drunk and then went to find the lochness monster.
we got as far as inverness i think, before i crashed into someones house, there was no escape! we did try though, but outracing a cop car in a 1.1 corsa didnt work!

I haven't had a job in over four years now. My first job was cleaning at a primary school, which had it's good and bad points. Good, because I only had to work with one other person that was my best friend at the time. Bad, because for the entire time I was working there those little primary school bastards never quite grasped the concept of flushing a damn toilet after they'd used it.

My second job was working at a supermarket which turned out to be a really stupid idea for someone with SA. I started getting heart palpitations and convinced myself that I was dying so I quit. I've been terrified of going back to work ever since.
