Someone hit my car and I ran away

The traffic was completely jammed and moving very very slowly, suddenly the car behind me hit the back of my car. And I ran away.
The damage was pretty big. I will have to repair.

What would do in a situation like this?

You probably will have to tell your insurance unless you want to eat the cost yourself. I suppose you can tell them you didn't think they hit you that hard or that they hit and ran on you.

Lol, no. That would be even more strange.
I've just ignored what happened and kept moving until the car who hit me disappeared.

Yeah, I bet that jerk did disappear. The minute he/she saw you weren't coming out to get their insurance information they probably breathed a sigh of relief and jetted out of there. Who's fault was it? You can't do anything about it now considering you have no info from the other car. That must have been kind of a tough situation. I've hit someone before and it was very awkward talking to them afterwards.

Yeah, I was in panic... I was in relief that the jerk disappeared too.
Social Phobia was screaming.
Oh, life! How I love you.

Ever since I got my driver's licence about 10 years ago, I've feared that something like this would happen to me. If I'm really unlucky, the person in the other car may get angry and try to pin all the blame on me. And like the pathetic, submissive doormat that I am, I would probably just bend over and accept full responibility and pay for everything, even when I know it was not my fault.

Then again, if someone tries to exploit my weakness in a situation like that, and keeps pushing me to the boiling point, I may explode and look like a total psycho.

Are you saying you ran away on foot?

lol that was my first thought too

Glad I am not the only one who thought that too when they read it!:D

I had an old lady bump into the back of my car in a car park once. I was in a parking spot, so I could not go anywhere.
Luckily she was very nice about it and admitted it was her fault.
The only damage was to her car surprisingly, so I did not have to deal with Insurance and putting the car in to be fixed. Thank god, because I always have a feeling that mechanics will take one look at me with SA and think they can rip me off.

You don't have to change what you wrote. People can read what you meant further down.:)

....but if you want to make it a bit clearer, maybe "drove away" instead of "ran away" might avoid the initial confusion.:)
