another thing you brits do that tickles me is you add phrases like.."that is" after sentences...like for example you'll say.."that's a nice birthday cake ...that is"... always makes me laugh..coz it sounds so...I don't know..reminds me of munchkins for some reason..

Question: Do Californian surfers really say 'narly', or is that just on Spongebob? :lol: Hope they do, I love that word

shh lilmisstragic, dont spoil the illusion.
To all americans... we all come from London and half of us are poor cockney chimney sweepers and the other half are aristocracy who take tea in the garden under parasols at 4pm. We're also all villians in real life, not just in the Movies.
And yes, you won the war... we could never had done it with out you.

A friend of my family went to the States and was asked how often he visits the Queen. I imagine he felt insulted that someone considered him too common to dine with her every Sunday like the rest of us :wink:

I remember when my brothers friend came back after highschool over in the UK.

Things were not longer "good" or "very good" they were always "well good" and expensive stuff was now just "x" haha :D

British slang is great.

also, i have a friend from wyoming and she says:

bink = blanket
cookie = doughnut (as in what you do with a car when you go in circles)
instead of fooling around or messing around to pass time, you "dink" around. that's my fav :D

Lazercarp, you mentioned referring to a relative as "our" which reminded me of "our Rose" in "Keeping Up Appearances" which is very popular on our PBS (Public Broadcasting Stations) here in the US. Over the years, I have had lots of enjoyment watching many of the British programs---comedy, drama, etc. "Fawlty Towers" was another favorite.
