Sometimes I feel that cell phones, facebook and myspace, and hell, even cars make me feel even more like a loser than I would feel if I lived in earlier decades. I know it's stupid to care, but most people my age are so obsessed with their cell phones, but I get NO calls and no one calls me. it makes the "no friends" thing so much more emphatic. It's expected that "normal" people with lives get calls every day from friends.
Facebook is depressing because no one ever responds to my posts or anything. And then you have to see everyone else with plans written on their walls, party pics, etc.
In the 1800's, people were naturally more isolated and life was so much simpler without cars and all the instant interconnection. You weren't such a loser if you didn't date anyone in your twenties or go a million places each week, or have any friends outside your family, you know what I mean?
On the other hand, I do have this website to find others who relate to me, so that's a plus!!
