English to English dictionary

I know this seems like a weird thread title, but I find it necessary to have a spot, if there isn't already one, on this message board where words and phrases that are commonly used by British and Australian people are translated into words that Americans can understand and vice versa.

An example would be "Bloke." I can find others and include them here.

Does anyone else think this is necessary, or is it just me?

cross?(Well, I don't know how, but I did once hear that this means angry, as opposed to going from one side of a street or room to the other. BTW, what is the UK word that means "to cross?")

lol, can i ask if you have been talking to someone from Liverpool UK? I am from Liverpool and I've never heard anyone else from the UK using the word yonks :? :lol:
