Hello I am new here
This is a very personal and perhaps even embarassing q but I have to ask. How should a girl look downstairs? I am really concerned that I am abnormal. Is it ok to have hair there? I feel like a complete minger. Anyone wanna help?

Hello Spider, its perfectly natural to have hair 'downstairs'. Dont go worrying about it, it just means puberty has kicked in, you'll probably find hair will be sprouting from other places too, ie, your armpits and quite likely other places you never had it before.

How old are you by the way?

Don't worry missy, it's perfectly normal. And just imagine the pain of using bakini wax down there.

recently i've been on a parenthood forum b/c i'm terrified of having a baby (and yes, SA has alot to do with it) and just admiting that is so embarrassing. and i'd heard of an elective C-section but then i heard of everything that goes with it... and dammit i'm never having a baby!!!

ok i feel better...

Hey Spider,

whatever you look like 'down there' is fine. Females often worry about it, I don't think I have ever met a girl who hasn't been paranoid about the way it looks lol. I think porn has a lot to answer for with this lol, cos girls worry that if they don't look like the porn girls (who probably don't look all that great anyway lol) then there's something wrong with them. Think of it like this, no-one has a nose that looks like yours, and no-one has ears quite like yours, why should your 'shi-shi' (LOL, soz had to nick that, what a great name for it! :p) look like everyone elses?

As for hair, shave it, don't shave it, wax it if your brave enough (lol, I would so never be brave enough for that! :p), whatever you choose to do is fine. If you're gonna shave, then exfoliate, it reduces the chance of ingrown hairs, use a very gentle shower gel or something to soften the hairs before you shave, and make sure you don't get any shower gel anywhere too senstive, cos it can cause nasty infections ect, and be very careful!! Remember to cut any long hairs before you shave or you'll kill your razor ;) he he lol. If you're gonna wax, just don't do it around the time of our period, cos you're extra sensitive and it will hurt so much more. If you're gonna leave it natural, then don't worry about it, and you'll be saving yourself a whole load of hassle anyway ;)

P.S Chilling-Echo I'm scared of having kids too! It all seems too painful, embarrassing and just no fun :S Maybe I'll adopt if I want kids lol.

i feel ya. i've even talked to guys about childbirth (not my fear, maybe just adding in sarcastically, "i'm having a c-section no matter what") and them being like "my wife is doing it naturally so my kids can know that we went through all that for them". needless to say, i wasn't head over heels to date them... i feel for their wife

Lol "we" went thru all that? The girl went thru all that more like it! I wonder if the wife agrees with that  I think seen as how it is the female who has to go thru all the pain and everything, it should be totally our choice whether we have a natural birth, or kids at all.

All you need to do to learn more about "yourself" is to pick up a biology book from your local library. Or swing by Sue Johanson's website, she is well versed on said subject.
