I Can Help You Cure Your Blushing

I called the doctor's office and the receptionist said my results were fine. She said that she couldn't give the results over the phone and that I would have to go in-person and talk to my doctor about it.

Now I feel like there's nothing that can help me. ::(:

Damn that sucks. ::(:

Are you taking anything to help your blushing at the moment? If this treatment doesn't cure my blushing I will try Paxil (heard good stuff about it) and see a psychiatrist and if that doesn't help I will have no choice but to get ETS which is free in Canada.

Don't lose hope, I'm sure you will find something that works for you.

Thanks, Cure.

I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow about the results. I am going to ask him what he recommends for blushing.

Do you think it is possible to have too much adrenaline, just like having too much histamine?

Yeah I think it's possible. Someone with high histamine levels might have too much adrenaline because the body releases adrenaline to try to lower histamine levels like you can read here What is Histamine.

That's why I want to get my adrenaline levels tested. Some other health conditions could probably affect adrenaline levels too.

WOW. So apparently the receptionist had no idea what she was talking about. I went to see the doctor today for the results, and he actually told me that my histamine levels were really high. He's setting up an appointment for a specialist that will take it from there.

I am so relieved that there could be a reason for my blushing.

Is there an exact name for the test? My doctor had no idea how to test for histamine so I don't know what to do.

I don't think there is an exact name...you usually just pee in a cup and the doctor sends that to the lab with instructions on what he wants to be tested.

At least that's how I think it works.

I wanted to ask him but I was so relieved to hear my histamine was high that I forgot.

I will try to find out soon, though.

Cool, I will be going to the doctor on Thursday and I will try to get mine tested.

^^Cure, if you get yours tested and it is within the normal range, it may be because you have been taking the meth & calc for long enough to bring it down?

letsendthis: Congrats mate, happy to hear you got high histamine. May be strange to gratulate someone upon finding an imbalance in his body, but you know as well as me that if it's the cause of blushing it's the find out of your life.

I just can't believe the secretary just pay no attention to you like that. It's another reason not to trust doctors/hospitals. Remember when I was prescribed beta blockers, and I intentionally asked two different doctors the same day if I should take them on a regular basis or only before doing presentations, having dinners etc. Dr Nr.1 said I should avoid taking them regularly and only before stressful moments to keep away from side effects, Dr Nr.2 said it's essential I take the every day to play down the activity of the sympathetic nerve system in the long run. The exact opposite views. Unbelievable how they can be so slippery about our bodies, our health.

So I basically have a hard time to trust hospitals all the way. I wouldn't be surprised if a histadelia test turned out to be high - but not too high for the doctor to say "it's no problem". He'll might not be aware that the slightly higher levels is resulting in a blushing cycle that destroy ones life. Doctors is nothing more than humans and therefore they can both be sloppy and make mistakes. It's probably more common than we think.

Hence I started this cure without testing my histamine levels. I'm on week three and I must say I have seen some impression concerning blushing. I have a project work in school now; yesterday I went with my girlfriend and her mother to interview a Chinese doctor in Chinese (I'm not Chinese), and today I visited the Chinese Medicine faculty by myself for further interviewing and photos. I didn't blush severely a single time during those two days - just slightly a couple of times when arranging equipment or asking questions two times - that is a great improvement. Moreover today I was being approached by a student on campus with actually scared me when he came up from behind, and then used some 10 minutes of my time to explain about some trip whatever. That would normally have been a blushing situation but today - nothing.

Though I still feel the "fight-or-flight" mechanism turn on in those situations and it makes me sweat just about as severe as before. Maybe this needs more time than blushing to regulate since my sweating is more severe than my blushing. But since blushing is less severe and also the palpitations which comes with blushing have decreased a little, I feel that the fight-or-flight response might is not as harsh as before. Hard to say after this short of a time, but I will for sure update.

Someone asked about my hyperhidrosis and I think I have described it before, so I will do it again in a shorter form. It's generalized and triggered by heath/exercise and anxiety/emotions. I still have the same heat intolerance as before, meaning my body will leak sweat in 20-25 degrees celsius with over 50 percent humidity. Yesterday I was walking less than ten minutes outside and when I reached the canteen had large sweat stains on chest and back. That's from walking so you can imagine exercise: my shirt would have changed color on 90 percent of it's surface after 60 min of squash in on an air conditioned court - one can then twist it and make a puddle of sweat on the floor. I often feel really dizzy after a football game.

Anyway, I will try a new approach to this heat intolerance; Chinese Medicine. I will be able to get acupuncture here in Hong Kong for some 25 USD per session due to student discount and mixing with herbs it will might be effective to some extent. There are many scientific reports from all continents showing that acupuncture is effective to reduce the activity of the sympathetic nerve system = reduce fight-or-flight response. I will give it a shoot after christmas.

So to sum this post short: Might be some improvement in my blushing, feel a bit less anxious, though sweating and heat tolerance quite the same as before. 3 weeks and counting.

Cheers

Grimaldi, I know exactly what you mean. That is the reason I decided to go to this new doctor, because my old one didn't take anything about my blushing seriously. I've also had blood work done with him in the past about other problems, and with the results clearly having something wrong with them, he still decided that I shouldn't even worry about anything. The old doctor suggested a therapist because he thinks I'm too obsessive about myself. It's really shocking how unprofessional a practice like medicine can be.

I'm glad you've found something that might be working. Have you considered getting your histamine levels checked? Cure has had some noticeable improvements in his sweating.

As I stated above, I began the remedy without checking my histamine levels. If histadelia are a cause for my sweating, it will be decreased if I start start the remedy, not depending wether a doctor tell me I have histadelia or not.

I have to pay a lot of money for hospital visits (as a foreigner in Hong Kong) so I might consider to do some checkups when returning to Europe for holiday.

My mistake, I thought you meant that you started the acupuncture.

Cure is very lucky though, he has free health insurance.::p:

I just came back from the doctor and he was a total arrogant asshole which surprised me because he was very nice before. He just laughed at me when I mentioned that someone cured his blushing by lowering his high histamine levels. I asked him if I could get my histamine levels tested anyway but he said that it can't be done (might be true or maybe he just thinks it's so stupid that he doesn't even want to try). He said that I have a big problem between the ears and that I should stop looking for a magic solution on the Internet because the problem is in my head and that my blushing is caused by an anxiety disorder which can be treated with medication and the help of a psychiatrist. He wanted to put me on medication but I refused.

I don't even know why I shook his hand after it was over. I'm never going back to this doctor again, he just made me feel like shit.

On the bright side, I was very anxious and could have easily turned red on at least three occasions but it just didn't happen.

In the other hand, congratulations for not turning red when he was laughin at you. It seems the L-methionine is working for you!

sick of going red.

Im glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I've never thought of going to my dr though - what's histadela (prob spelled that wrong) and how do you check your histamine levels? Sorry if it's all been talked about before. I am new to forums and this is my first ever post anywhere.
I don't think my blushing is a medical problem as I have had it on and off for most of my life, but recently it's started to get worse. I've just come out of a long relationship and never realised how hard I would find it all. I think this is bound to be linked to the blushing, plus I am not sleeping very well either. I can't face (no pun intended) going out much because I always think I will start going red the minute I start to talk to someone. I have always been a bit of a shy bloke, so this blushing is just making me feel a million times worse.
Does anyone know of any natural ways to sort this out? I don't fancy taking any medicines and my dr is an idiot too like yours Cure, so I know he wouldn't have any time for this. He'd probably laugh as well.
