letsendthis: Congrats mate, happy to hear you got high histamine. May be strange to gratulate someone upon finding an imbalance in his body, but you know as well as me that if it's the cause of blushing it's the find out of your life.
I just can't believe the secretary just pay no attention to you like that. It's another reason not to trust doctors/hospitals. Remember when I was prescribed beta blockers, and I intentionally asked two different doctors the same day if I should take them on a regular basis or only before doing presentations, having dinners etc. Dr Nr.1 said I should avoid taking them regularly and only before stressful moments to keep away from side effects, Dr Nr.2 said it's essential I take the every day to play down the activity of the sympathetic nerve system in the long run. The exact opposite views. Unbelievable how they can be so slippery about our bodies, our health.
So I basically have a hard time to trust hospitals all the way. I wouldn't be surprised if a histadelia test turned out to be high - but not too high for the doctor to say "it's no problem". He'll might not be aware that the slightly higher levels is resulting in a blushing cycle that destroy ones life. Doctors is nothing more than humans and therefore they can both be sloppy and make mistakes. It's probably more common than we think.
Hence I started this cure without testing my histamine levels. I'm on week three and I must say I have seen some impression concerning blushing. I have a project work in school now; yesterday I went with my girlfriend and her mother to interview a Chinese doctor in Chinese (I'm not Chinese), and today I visited the Chinese Medicine faculty by myself for further interviewing and photos. I didn't blush severely a single time during those two days - just slightly a couple of times when arranging equipment or asking questions two times - that is a great improvement. Moreover today I was being approached by a student on campus with actually scared me when he came up from behind, and then used some 10 minutes of my time to explain about some trip whatever. That would normally have been a blushing situation but today - nothing.
Though I still feel the "fight-or-flight" mechanism turn on in those situations and it makes me sweat just about as severe as before. Maybe this needs more time than blushing to regulate since my sweating is more severe than my blushing. But since blushing is less severe and also the palpitations which comes with blushing have decreased a little, I feel that the fight-or-flight response might is not as harsh as before. Hard to say after this short of a time, but I will for sure update.
Someone asked about my hyperhidrosis and I think I have described it before, so I will do it again in a shorter form. It's generalized and triggered by heath/exercise and anxiety/emotions. I still have the same heat intolerance as before, meaning my body will leak sweat in 20-25 degrees celsius with over 50 percent humidity. Yesterday I was walking less than ten minutes outside and when I reached the canteen had large sweat stains on chest and back. That's from walking so you can imagine exercise: my shirt would have changed color on 90 percent of it's surface after 60 min of squash in on an air conditioned court - one can then twist it and make a puddle of sweat on the floor. I often feel really dizzy after a football game.
Anyway, I will try a new approach to this heat intolerance; Chinese Medicine. I will be able to get acupuncture here in Hong Kong for some 25 USD per session due to student discount and mixing with herbs it will might be effective to some extent. There are many scientific reports from all continents showing that acupuncture is effective to reduce the activity of the sympathetic nerve system = reduce fight-or-flight response. I will give it a shoot after christmas.
So to sum this post short: Might be some improvement in my blushing, feel a bit less anxious, though sweating and heat tolerance quite the same as before. 3 weeks and counting.
Cheers
