^^^ But the people shouldn't have to pay the government for not being insured in the first place. Why should somebody have to pay for not receiving a service? The penalty is actually $90 or 1% of your yearly income, whichever is greater.
It is just like the tax they already deduct from your checks. You could say why should others pay for services you get such as unemployment, disability, and all the other public services when the time comes that you need them? It is a small price to pay to have the benefits and privileges we get.
