Idromed 5 Plug (UK)

Hi,

I have been using an Idromed 5 for a few years but unfortunately the plug/adapter is now faulty ( loose wire inside?).

I would be grateful if someone could advise me how to get the plug fixed if possible.

If not can I buy a replacement or buy an alternative plug or adapter to use which is probably my best option.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You may also contact any place that repairs appliances or contact the manufacturer.

Thanks Sprawling,

I was thinking that myself but unsure whether a general electrical appliance repairer would be able to help or a more specialist person needed.

Just not my area of expertise. Thanks again

Hey GFunk,

I have an Idromed 4 GS and recently I encountered the same problem more or less. Ultimately I decided there wasn't much else to do than bite the bullet and order a new one. It was quite pricy (about 170 Euros) eventhough the retail guy told me he sold one to me without mark-up. Apparently these things are quite expensive from the factory for some reason.

I first contacted Dr Honle themselves in Germany via email and they redirected me to a service partner here in the Netherlands.

You can try to find an electronics guy but in the end I didn't want to take the risk (however limited). I opened the whole thing up myself at first but minor tweaks didn't help so there you go. I have owned the thing for about 5 years now and also dropped the adapter on a few occassions so I guess it felt just whithin 'acceptable wear and tear'. I'm definitely a lot more cautious with the new one now I know how expensive it is though :S

Jezza,

Cheers for the reply.

Went to a electrical appliance repairer who said that it would be unlikely to be able to repair as parts were moulded and was warned off getting a replacement that is not the official product/specification etc.

170 Euros, seems like a license to print money. All a big con if you ask me but needs must I guess.

Have contacted a couple of suppliers, so will have to see what they say but it looks like the adapter only comes with the unit.

Thanks again for your reply

Yeah np...and I agree with you, I thought that price was very steep, I'd expected max 60-70 Euros but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I did trust the retailer though, I got the impression he was kind of embarassed that it was this expensive himself. But in the end I was indeed glad that at least I didn't need to buy a completely new machine. But hey, on the off chance that one of those retailers does come back with an offer of 60 quid let me know cause then I'll have to turn up the angry and write some emails :D

Hope the price isn't painful reading.

OUCH! Crikey. OH NO THEY DID NOT!?!:D:mad:

Nah I can deal with it but yeah still kinda peeved.

Well if you could let me know how it plays out for you (if the thing is the same and if it eventually works) could you let me know please? I'd be interested to know even if only for future reference.

Still, hope it works out for you though...

Jezza,

managed to get mine working again but I know it's only temporary. I will no doubt have to get a replacement in the future.

Will let you know how it goes then

Salli,

thanks for the info. I've somehow managed to get the plug working for the time being, fingers crossed it will last.

Thanks again
