phobia or disorder?

is social anxiety a phobia or a disorder? because people either call this condition "social phobia" or "social anxiety disorder". Maybe this is just one of those things that you can call it either one but there is a difference between a phobia and a disorder.. i don't get it

I think they're one and the same, the words are interchangeable.

To some people, though, the word "phobia" probably sounds harmless and easier to overcome than a "disorder" which would suggest something more ingrained and harder to treat.

This is probably because most people say they have a "phobia" about something.
