Quotations from the Bible

I believe there was an older topic along the same lines but most of the posters do not frequent this site anymore, so I decided to create this one rather than revive.

Let's begin with something that describes how the bible (thusly God Jehovah) has personally helped me immensely with Social Phobia and OCD and continues to do so.

Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well spoken of, whatever virtue there is and whatever praiseworthy thing there is, continue considering these things... ,and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians Chapter 4, verses 6,7,8 and 9 respectfully. In short, pray for any trouble you may have, make these problems known to God through Christ Jesus (in prayer) and continue considering these things do this and Jehovah will be with you. :D

I will post more in the future, but feel free to post your own quotes too.

These are a couple of my favorite ones…

If God had a refrigerator

If God had a refrigerator, your picture
would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in
it.
He sends you flowers every spring and a
sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He will listen
He can live anywhere in the universe, and
He chose your heart.
What about the Christmas gift He sent
you in Bethlehem; not to mention that
Friday at Calvary.
Face it, He’s crazy about you!

Footprints in the sand

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the
beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand, one belonging to
him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed
before him, he looked back at the
footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the
path of his life there was only one set
of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the
very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned
the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you’d walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life there is only
one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why when I needed
you the most you would leave me.”
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, when
you see only one set of footprints in the sand
it was then that I carried you.”

I am an atheist but like the words of the bible,And many religous scripture I think the bible should have a place in everyones heart but it has been pushed away from people by misconception within the religous world, which has twisted the words of god into there own.For example. political powers using the words of god to declare war and others within the religous world. This has no place and they have no right. To me I find it hard to agree with the words so many people have taken the purity out of and in the same word labelled hate and hypocrocy.

Well said, that is a major element of why many refuse the bible for various reasons. With all these hypocrites of whom they call themselves Christians there is of course much confusion, but why? By chance maybe, a good front in which to acculmate followers and power? I think not.

'... the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one' NWT 1 John 5:19

Satan the devil as described in the bible strives to prevent man from learning about the truth of things, Jehovah god. The simple fact that the bible is twisted often by leaders and hypocrites only reinforces this, otherwise if it was not genuine it would have disappeared long ago.

Who's this "god" person? He must have a pretty big wallet, if he wants to carry everyone's picture in it. Maybe he's the one holding all the money the poor should have. Big, big wallet.

Horribly specific claims that were absolutely not very general in nature, and not slapped onto some of the latest examples from our history.

*drips with sarcasm*

(Actually, I'll give them kudos for going for WW1 instead of WW2. Better go rally the heathens, someone are getting too creative!)

I hate to barge in to what was a nice thread, but thats total BS. There have been those things since the beginning of time. Every few years theres people saying the World is going to end and it never has. There hasn't been a single time in the history old the World where the things in that list didn't happen...as someone that doesn't believe in any of that stuff, I still know Jesus himself said that NOBODY can predict when he will return...so come on....really

Scaring people in to faith is terrible. Saying "look, look, Jesus is coming and you better watch out!" isn't from the Bible, its from paranoid individuals that filter the Bible to their immediate needs and delusions

I know right, these guys don't belong on socialphobiaworld.com Go pray or something, why would internet help you if you believe in god so much? You go online for help, don't you people pray for help? Wait, why do you guys deserve to be like you are anyway? Why did god do that to you? While giving some jerk who never did a good thing a better like then you? You guys ever hear of science, gravity, physics, or maybe evolution? Pretty sure they all prove god wrong.
