went to a play

So a few nights ago, I went to see a play. It was at a high school, but many ages of children and adults performing. It amazed me, how these little kids could get up on that stage and sing, not even appearing nervous. And here I am in the crowd, in a darkened room, feeling apprehensive, nervous. out of place, and couldn't wait till it was over, so I could get the hell out of there! :x They held a draw for the seat number for a prize, and I almost hyperventilated hoping my number didn't get drawn, for fear I would have to walk up to the front and claim the prize. Makes me wonder how this happens to certain people, and not to others, but also makes me feel like a freak, out of this world, or something. 8O

hey maggie, i think the same thing with i'm somewhere with winnings and such. i think about game shows and wonder how people do it. but your post was very insightful! i remember when i was little i used to stand up in front of the church and sing bymyself with no music or anything every Sunday and think nothing of it.

I used to take lead roles in plays up until the age of 17, my SP started towards the end of my "career" but I used to manage to block it all out and be a completely different person on stage, yeah I know that sounds cheesy, but when acting I knew what my lines were, I knew where to walk, I knew what my character had to do

acting is infinetly easier than real life, for in real life I never know where to go or what to do and there is no script to memorise.

when on stage I didnt even have a stutter! so you see Maggie, acting on a stage in front of a crowd is difficult in some ways but I honestly think acting on a stage can be easier for someone with SP than queing up to buy tickets in the foyer...

I ultimately gave up acting because I was kindly told I wasnt attractive enough to make a career out of it and the socialising/auditon/rehersal side of things became too difficult because of my SP and depression

Ah Horatio that stinks. I can't stand this need to have beautiful people everywhere. To be honest I'm sick of them. I don't watch American shows now because all it consists of is beautiful people saving the world. Although in fairness the same can be said for any type of media. Man it's depressing. I'm sorry to hear that you no longer do something you obviously used to enjoy. We need a revolution...

AAAhhhhh!!!! Thank-you Yossarian, thought it was only me who was sick and tired of stupid television shows with perfect looking people!! I find it so annoying!! I used to love "Fear Factor", till the prerequisite for being on the show was perfect physique, fake boobs, whatever, know what I mean?? I don't like show-offey people. I think if you look good, you don't have to flaunt it.
