I'm more than happy to admit when I've got it wrong and I always appreciate others who do it too. Say if a colleague were to make an error that proved costly on my part... if they were to simply say, 'I got it wrong, I'm sorry', I wouldn't feel any resentment at all for the inconvenience caused.
I couldnt agree more. Like I said I dont think there is anything paricularly bad about making mistakes and being wrong (within reason I mean)...its the denial and the delusion that we are all perfect beings that I disagree with.
If someone has the courage to say "look.... I stuffed up, I am sorry, I will learn and try not to do it again... " then I think that person at least deserves another chance to prove themselves to get it right.
I remember one time I was outside drinking a coffee (taking a break at work) and I accidentally knocked over my mug spilling the coffee and breaking it.
BOY you should of seen the looks I got... it was incredible... everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me as if I just set someones house on fire....
I guess this topic is actually closely related to how quickly people can judge you based on the last thing that you did. Its funny.... you could be the most generous, kindest, nicest person ever.... but the moment you mess up... BAM...thats it... your reputation has been tarnished and thats all you will be remembered for.
Hey...remember David Carridine?
