How are you feeling?

On another note, I really don't understand what's with the recent amount of questions and compliments lately coming from family. About a month ago when I saw my dad's family, I got a crap ton of surprising compliments that had me riding a bit of a confidence wave for a few weeks. (it's gone now) They asked about me having a boyfriend obviously and telling them no seemed to surprise them. Tonight I see my mom's family and they asked the same thing. Rather than teasing me about it, they acted all shocked. Growing up throughout all my teens, I got none of that. I was teased for how I looked, how I acted, no one was surprised or shocked by my not having a boyfriend or not dating. So why now? Why the difference? I don't see a difference, I just don't get it.:idontknow:
Don't question it. Accept the compliments and absorb the confidence from them. :) To be fair, I'm also shocked.

I hope everyone has/is having a wonderful holiday!
My day has been good: I ate too much.

Happy, I loved seeing my dog ripping open her presents... Though, slightly disappointed she seems happiest with the stuffing-free fox my husband's grandmother bought her, rather than the cagey cube I ordered from America or the teddy I made... Meh, it's only because it has a squeak.

Glad Christmas dinner is over and done with. Thank f_ _ k!

Why do atheists have tae celebrate Christmas anyway...?! :idontknow:

Hate to be a bummer on Christmas, but my holiday has been tainted...

Most of my gifts came from my stepfather, who came over to deliver them and spend Christmas with us. Two of my siblings are his biological children, and his main priority was providing gifts for them, but he got me and my other siblings gifts as well because my mother couldn't afford them this year.

Well... he came over the day before Christmas Eve and he and my mother got into a fight (it was his fault - he was being an a-hole). He ended up going back to his home in another state. Before he left he claimed he was going to take our gifts with him (but not his biological children's gifts) so we wouldn't get anything. He left them, saying no we could have them, but after he returned home he kept on calling and leaving nasty messages and texts and now he's demanding our gifts back. He says we don't deserve to have a Christmas because he didn't have one, and that only his (biological) children are getting a Christmas.

tl;dr --> My stepfather is demanding we give him back the gifts he gave to us. I don't have to have gifts, it isn't the end of the world if I don't. But I really like the gray boots he got me, and I don't want to give them back  I think it's very cruel of him...

Should I give them back?

Care to enlighten me on this point, Nathaniel? Just outta ma own curiousity. :eek:mg: (I'm such an eejit when am slightly drunk!)

While there's a popular sentiment to 'remind people that Jesus is the reason for the season', the popularity of winter festivities at or near the solstice has been a tradition since well before the Christians rather arbitrarily decided it was the birthday of Jesus.

Christmas trees, giving presents, gorging yourself on food, getting together with family, yule logs, Santa Claus...I don't recall reading about these things in the bible.

You don't need to be a believer to engage in traditions or celebrations. Especially when they involve lots of pie!

Once a gift is given, the giver no longer owns it. That's what makes it different from, say, a lease. The fact that he's trying to use it against you probably releases you from any moral obligations concerning it, anyway.

heheheh. You said 'taint'.

Really? I feel so guilty, like I don't deserve them. But I didn't even do anything to him. None of us did (except my brother who finally texted him back with some not-so-nice things to say in return because he couldn't take the insults about my mother anymore).

And yes... I said that, nate, I said it!

:p

You probably know this already, but it's not about the boots. It's not even about anything you've done. The boots are an excuse to make drama and say/do mean things. If it wasn't boots it would be something else.

And giving him back the boots isn't likely to change who he is.

True... but he just texted and said he won't "go away" (stop texting and calling) until he get the gifts back  He's saying it's his property.

Ah, then the solution is clear. Give them back, but pee in them first!

Funny you said that, heh; my brother got some boxers from him and he said that if he has to give them back, he's going to wipe himself with them first. I don't think he really meant it, but I told him not to stoop to my stepfather's level... Funny thought though.

i doubt i've ever seen that particular sentiment expressed on a christmas card

maybe it's just me, but i think he might be missing the point of the whole holiday

(the first draft of my response was considerably more harsh, but it's christmas)

Can you come over and beat him up? We'll drive you to his place and you can open a can of whoop-ass on him :D

...I wish

Oh, right, it's Christmas - I meant, uhhhh. Never mind the beating up.

...but I do wish. haha

Good. :) Got some really nice gifts (even from my brother! he never gets me anything!) and my mom was really happy with the stuff my dad and I got her the other day. I gave my dog her gifts this morning and she went crazy, haha. Got her a pink tennis ball and a squeaky rubber penguin, both of which she adores. I just had an awesome brunch with pumpkin french toast and scrambled eggs, and I finally watched A Christmas Story this morning. (was too tired to last night)

Now the house is getting pretty quiet. My brother went to his girlfriend's for the rest of the day and my dad is now going to work. Sucks he has to work on Christmas, but at least I got to spend time with him over the weekend.

Pie? Eh, that reminds me... must start doing regular exercise again. :sarcastic:
