Gamers thread

I'm downloading GTAV on Steam right now. The freakin' thing is 60Gb in size. Had to leave it on overnight and it's still only halfway.

Anyone play elderscrolls online? I just got it and am in the first area. It would be cool to go adventuring with someone/some people

I have it, (have had it for some time now) but stopped playing for a while.

If I start playing again I'll gladly join you! I'll let you know if I do.

:D

I was playing it for a while, but I kinda stopped. It's incredibly fun, but I'm not a fan of how locked down, limited and slow it is by design.

Couldn't agree more. I'm only playing it because I couldn't be bothered to change games.

I just couldnt get into the story of the online part. I had very little motivation to make more and more money just to dump it all into an expensive car.

Playing Spore for the first time. Got to the civilisation stage, I did not know how it worked very well. I wanted to be an economic city. Bought a couple of cities, then this other nation gets all mad because I'm too big and starts attacking. I only had economic vehicles so I couldn't really protect myself. Eventually lost one of the cities and my main city, and had to flee to the other small city I had bought, which was in a different continent than the other two. Thankfully they left me alone there.

So there I was, small city, all my vehicles in the other continent (except boats), even if I deleted them I wouldn't have room to create them again. I just tried to trade with the other nations then, getting money and gifting it to them while they killed each other. I managed to become an ally of all three of the ones remaining. Two of them remained in the end, and while one of them made their final assault on the other and dealt with huge monsters raiding their city, I made my move.

I bought 3 cities in quick succession, made a couple of them military. Started my own little army. I was now big enough to start trading with new cities, and eventually I had so much money all I had to do was wait for the trade bar to go all the way up so I could buy those cities. Never had to use my army.

I guess Spore isn't a great strategy game (I'm not very good at those anyway) but I liked how I went from being near extinction to complete domination in only a few moves, never using the army I built. I guess the game would never really fully annihilate you, so it wasn't much of an achievement in itself.

Witcher 3! Who here is playing it or at least planning to. I've pretty much forgotten all the lore and story so I'll have to replay the first two. Reviews have been very nice though so I'm really looking forward to digging into it when my exams are over.

Don't think the PC will handle it at high settings though. :/

Also Killing Floor 2 is a pretty slick game. Anyone here playing that too?

I REALLY want to get into Witcher 3. But I'm currently working to get through the first game and then the second. But it does look phenomenal.

I will probably start playing it tomorrow.

I haven't played the first game , but I can assure you that the second one is worth it , I have never seen a game in which the choices you make have such a great impact on the scenario that will follow.

you'll have to play it at least 3 or 4 times.

Looks like The Witcher 3 has respawning enemies! Now I'm thinking of
buying it too.

Raiding the military base in GTA V as an invincible cat or deer is amazing fun.

Angry Joe is right. This DLC thing is just getting ridiculous. How many things that should be put in the games by developers but are later released as paid DLC?
I miss the days it was just about releasing decent expansions after some time.
The concept of DLC is really good and I don't think everything should be free, but it is being implemented
more and more just because of greed.

I hate the Sims because of that, but they've been doing it for way longer and just called them "expansion packs". I don't know how complete they used to be before the current Sims 4.

But it's ridiculous in Sims 4. For starters, the game is 10-20€ more expensive than new pc games. By itself (at least when it came out), it was rather incomplete. Definitely not worth 70€, but everyone and their mothers still paid for it. Then there are "stuff packs" and "game packs", which are also twice as expensive as they should be. Finally, there's an expansion pack worth 40€, which is the normal price for many new pc games. I tried it out and the content was not worth the 40€, 20€ at best.

What bothers me the most is that everyone still buys it just because it is the Sims. Then again, I live in a country where the minimum wage is 2.5€ an hour (and don't expect to make much more than that in the first years of your career, regardless of your level of education), so maybe I'm the only one who feels like this is ridiculously expensive.

Yep. Preorder DLCs that aren't just purely cosmetic, or provide something unattainable in-game (that heavily affects gameplay) are the worst.

I also hate how increasingly regular it is for games to be released in a sub-par state, then fixed with patches over the next few weeks.

You see, I've become the type of gamer who resorts back to older games and very picky about my purchases, even if its on sale, mostly because of this.
I like more relaxing games like the Sims series too, and it is sad to see that they're also being affected by this DLC greed.
Cosmetic upgrades are the worst, sometimes costing the same price as a decent
indie game.
Same goes for racing games... exclusive cars, decals, tracks, doesn't matter if its a
simulation or arcade racer.
Season pass??? No way Jose!
