^Funeral is a favorite of mine but they can't pull off that vocal harmony during live performances, unfortunately.

I know that this next band is completely overrated and some of their songs are king of corny (in a Nickelback kind of way) but their lead singer has a GREAT voice and they do some of the BEST live performances ...This band is good on studio recordings AND live recordings...some bands can't reproduce the same sound they have on their albums but 5fdp does it perfectly....some of their live songs are even BETTER than the studio versions, in my opinion.

I like their cover of Bad Company...skip to 22:24 minutes into this video to hear it.

also the song at 40:31 is better than the studio version.

a few days ago I was in the shower and tried singing one of their songs but then stopped pretty much immediately...I thought maybe I might get lucky and be able to hit some of those notes.....but NOPE.

I found it disconcerting that people would actually bring their children to a metal concert like that. That, in my opinion, is shitty parenting.

About the music, though, I agree that they're overrated, but I also like his vocals.
That drum solo was pretty ****ing cool too.
I sing in the shower too! Haha

yeah I find it a bit inappropriate too but how other people raise their kids is none of my business really...although, Five finger death punch seems a bit like "metal lite" so I suppose its not as bad as it seems for those kids to be there...it looks like they were having a pretty good time but still seems kind of irresponsible of the parents(who were probably drunk somewhere in the audience.)

imagine if someone took their kids to a concert like this.

LOL! Those poor kids would be traumatized!

Ok a little bit of patriotism for me in this post (which normally is not in my style AT ALL): Vision Divine are a quite well-known italian heavy metal band formed by Olaf Thorsen (real name Carlo Andrea Magnani, which is my fellow citizen), ex-Labyrinth component (another italian heavy metal band). The historic Vision Divine singer was Fabio Lione, also ex-Labyrinth component, but in this version of La Vita Fugge we got Michele Luppi at the vocals, which I think is one of the best italian singers. Hope you enjoy!

I think most of the "metal" I listen to is either alternative metal or... just hard rock and not metal at all :p not sure of the official definition. Die-hard metal fans would probably laugh at some of the stuff I like but hey - I prefer melodic stuff. Can't get into too much screaming (some is okay, I like some Slipknot) or dissonance.

Obvious one ;)

Don't know why it won't post as a video but it's Sober by Tool

I like alot of different subgenres of metal

Tool is such a great band..they're like the pink floyd of metal. I'v listened to 10,000 days so many times although its not as heavy as some of their other albums. I think I posted a few of there songs in a different thread a while back...but yeah they're an old favorite of mine..I dont listen to a whole lot of "pop" metal but when I heard Asking Alexandria's latest album I kind of liked it....Danny Worsnop has good clean vocals AND good guttural vocals.

anyway, iv been hearing things about Tool supposedly being in the process of recording a new album and I can only imagine how amazing its going to be.

one last thing i want to say about TOOL is that they have some GREAT album artwork...Alex Grey did the artwork for 10,000 days. here's his website http://alexgrey.com/art/paintings/soul/

Here's a good song from 10,000 days. I like the verse riff.

I get confused myself sometimes with all the subgenres of metal today. Some metalheads wouldn't like the hard rock and glam metal I listen to. But I can get into other varieties. Like thrash, speed, or power metal. Some of the black/death metal and newer stuff I can't get into.

^ Good stuff...here's somewhat of a similar band.

At the Gates was one of the early pioneers of melodic death metal way back in the 90's

I think I posted a song from their album Slaughter of the soul in this thread before but here's a song from one of their earlier albums....ALOT of popular metal bands these days have emulated ATG's playing style.

Hey, it's your username! Haha
I've listened to their stuff before; while I enjoy a few of their songs, some of their stuff I just can't get into.

That song makes me want to go angry power walking in the woods wearing this:
